Green Smoothies

So I started on a 14 day green smoothie challenge, with the hope of continuing it on indefinitely. I'm up to day 6 today and I think it's safe to say I will continue it indefinitely. They are actually quite tasty... ok so the first one was a bit hard to take but I still managed it ok and for me that's something because I just can't force myself to eat/drink something I don't like the taste of. Therefore it didn't taste foul or anything... just different.

It takes me about half an hour to an hour to drink about half a litre of the stuff and I have one in the morning and one at night. Morning replaces breakfast and night replaces me eating crap I shouldn't be eating so it's a win! AND I've found myself craving them now. They said that might happen because it's so good for your body, but of course I didn't really believe them. But there you have it, I find myself craving them. Funnily enough I often crave them when I'm wanting to eat badly!

I have only had sweet ones so far but am starting to think I might try a savoury one. The ones with banana are some of the best, the peach one I had was pretty good too. The amazing thing is, the riper the fruit the better the smoothie! I'm completely impressed in case you hadn't noticed. I haven't really lost any weight which is a bit of a bummer, however I'm still not eating 100%. I still have a bit of chocolate here, or an iced coffee there, but mostly it's my starch intake. I can't seem to stop myself eating too much bread or pasta! So I'm still eating at a 6-7 out of 10 and to lose weight I really need to be a consistent 8 or higher.

But it's all about the baby steps right now. I've stopped drinking so much coke and I'm doing my best to drink more water... I even had 2 glasses of milk today! WTF is up with that? I'm -as a general rule- not a straight milk drinker.

OH and one of the best side effects I've discovered is my lack of tiredness/lethargy! Wow what an added bonus! I'd kind of gotten used to most days feeling like crap because I was too tired to care about or do anything but since drinking these green smoothies I have noticed a decent lack of that. Therefore I'm finding myself with more energy to do things like cleaning or exercise. It's quite an interesting development. Well except today when I ate an entire bag of popcorn all to myself and within 15 minutes of overindulging in that I found myself so tired I could have fallen asleep. It's the starchy carbs, they make me lethargic. I know you need starch but I need to learn how to balance it all better.

At the end of the day I need to just concentrate on one baby step at a time. For now I just want to concentrate on having my litre of green smoothie a day and see how it goes. After all I'm trying to find the Lunhatikk diet rather than trying these one-diet-fits-all approaches!
