Now that its Sunday night and I finally have some free time, I think I'll make an update.
The past few weeks have been pretty good. Work is going great and I'm having a good time so far. I have my own desk and phone extension and everything! Hahaha. I'm actually looking forward to doing work.. holy crap! My apartment is still coming together though, as I still don't have everything up from home yet.. but my parents are coming down to visit this weekend so that should be the last of it.
Many of my readers will be heading back to Fredonia probably this week or weekend. I hope you have a good time moving in and a good start to the semester. No one get arrested *cough*DANA*cough*. I'll see ya'll in September!
Random note: I've still yet to see the following movies - Ricky Bobby, World Trade Center, and, of course, Snakes on a Plane. Maybe next weekend.
This weekend was pretty cool because the Rockies were in town to get swept by the Mets. After Friday's loss, my bro and I headed out to Shea Saturday night to see the game. This weekend was the
20th anniversary celebration of the Mets 1986 World Championship season. In case you don't recall, here's a BASEBALL HISTORY LESSON: In Game 6 of the '86 World Series, the Mets were within 1 strike of losing to the Red Sox (which would have ended the curse, instead of it happening 18 years later), when
Bill Buckner missed a routine ground ball that went through his legs. As a result, the Mets won Game 6 and then Game 7, to win the World Series. So, as a baseball fan, you can imagine that it was really cool being in the presense of some baseball legends such as
Howard Johnson,
Lenny Dykstra,
Mookie Wilson,
Keith Hernandez, and
Darryl Strawberry. They even
recreated the parachuter that came down in 86 with the
Go Mets banner. Anyway, it was a real blast from the past. The Mets were even wearing their
'86 throwback uniforms. Priceless. The game on the other, wasn't so great, as a Rockies fan anyway. They had a 4-0 lead after a Garrett Atkins HR in the top of the 6th, but, in typical Rockies fashion, they blew the lead the very next half inning, giving up 6 runs. 2 of the were walked in. Jeez... The Mets ended up winning 7-4. After the game, I was gonna meet up with Bill in the city, but it never happened. Probly another time.
Today,
we went for the series finale, and it was another Rockies loss.
Helton got a single... yay... that was about it. They didnt get killed... in fact, the 2 runs they gave up were solo HR's, they just couldn't do shit offensively, and lost 2-0. It was still good to get to see them though this year. That puts me at 0-4 going to Rockies games these last 2 years, haha. Oh well.
On a side note, and in closing, I'd just like to point out this weekend was brought to you by the USA. How awesome is it that you and 40,000 other strangers can come together and relax on a nice Saturday night and Sunday afternoon, have some hot dogs and beer, and enjoy the day with some good ole fashioned baseball. We live in the greatest god damn country in the world. And if you live here and don't feel the same way, well then Fuck You, and get the fuck out.
