Angelina ‘Angel’ Williams is a lot of things, but a fool is not one of them; the platinum blond eying her date skeptically as they finally took a break from dancing. She had been more than a little suspicious when Adam had approached her about the farewell ball and even more so when he asked if she would go with him. Before the brief meeting in Headmaster McMahon’s office, Adam Copeland hadn’t been a blip on her radar and she highly doubted that he even knew her name. But in spite of all that, she had accepted.

Now she knew why he asked, the evidence clear as day.

“You know, Copeland, if you wanted to make her jealous… you could have just said so.”

“What are you talking about?”

Angelina rolled her eyes, twirling a stray curl around her index finger. “It’s painfully obvious that you’ve got it bad for Stratus. A blind man could see it.”

Adam scoffed, his fingers drumming against the tablecloth. “You don’t know what you’re talking about, Williams.”

A perfectly sculpted eyebrow arched, “oh really? In that case, let me present my evidence and then if you’re still interested in living in denial? Prove me wrong.”

Adam huffed, gesturing for her to continue. “Go ahead… it’s not like you have much evidence, anyway.”

“You haven’t been able to keep your eyes off of her since we got here, you were staring at her while you were dancing with me, and you made sure that we were always dancing near them. Plus, whenever her date held her tighter, you held me closer…”

“She’s my friend.”

Angelina reached out a gloved hand to pat his cheek, “I would go on, but it’s a waste of my time.” Smirking slightly, she pushed her chair back from the table. “Good luck with her and I’ll see you tomorrow.”

Adam barely noticed her departure or if he did, he didn’t acknowledge it… the blonde still stewing over what she had said. Shaking his head, Adam reached for the nearest glass of iced water, emerald hued orbs intently watching the dance floor. Amy and Jay were nowhere to be seen, but that wasn’t unusual… Adam willing to bet that they had retreated to the safety of the outdoor terrace. He was going to join them, really he was, but instead his traitorous feet decided to take him to Trish and Chris.

“May I cut in?”

“No.”

“Yes.” Trish spoke at the same time Chris did, perhaps too over eager in her response, the pretty teen neatly dismissing Chris and missing the absolute look of hurt in his cerulean eyes.

Subsequently, Trish also missed the smirk that Adam sent to Chris; but that was because they had already started dancing.

“Where’s your date?” Trish questioned, hoping that her voice wasn’t nearly as shaky as it sounded.

“Don’t know,” Adam replied simply. “She left me.”

Trish arched an eyebrow, “really? You mean to tell me that someone had the nerve to walk out on Adam the Great?”

Adam rolled his eyes at the teasing tone in her voice, but not to be outdone, he smirked; tugging her closer with a single movement of his hand at the small of her back. Whisper soft, his lips moved near her ear, “her loss is your gain though, yeah?”

He didn’t miss the way that she seemed to shiver at his words or the way that her body seemed to melt against his. And he was fairly certain that she was going to notice the way she affected him. But that couldn’t be helped given their close proximity… not that he cared. All that really mattered to Adam right now was the fact that she was kissing him. A task that he returned with equal fervor.
