Tags Following a light lunch, Trish and Amy head to the on-site salon to have their hair, make-up and nails done for the ball. Trish is a more willing participant than Amy, though the redhead doesn’t protest too much. Idly, the blonde teenager wonders if it’s because Amy hasn’t slept much in the past few days. Before they are seated with their stylists, the two teens put on their ball-gowns; Amy’s a strapless, corset style top with a matching shawl, the gown a deep shade of grey bordering on black and accented with tiny rhinestones nearly resembling stars in the night sky. Trish wears a halter style, open back champagne colored gown accented with chocolate hued embroidery on the skirt and bodice. They wear protective robes over their gowns, though they do look somewhat silly walking back to their dorms in oversized cotton robes and high heels.
“Hey Ames?’ Trish questions as they head back to their dorm, “who’s your date tonight?”
“Actually, in the name of academy unity…” Amy prefaced calmly, “I’ll be attending with Hunter.”
Trish stopped in the middle of the hallway just outside of their dorm room, “really?”
Amy nodded briskly, “as I said, it's in the name of academy unity so it’s mostly just for show.” Swiping her key card, the redhead opened the door. “I doubt that we’ll even dance together beyond the opening waltz.”
Trish’s eyes grew increasingly mischievous, “then why not attend with Jay?”
“Because that defeats the point,” Amy replied, rolling her eyes a little. “It’s a formal ball and more than likely the last event that we’ll attend here at the academy.”
“All the more reason to attend with Jay,” Trish pointed out tactfully, knowing full well that she was walking a fine line with her friend.
Amy shook her head, carefully removing her robe, “Jay understands.” Heading into her room to trade her robe for her shawl, the redhead revealed another interesting piece of information. “And I won’t be the only one attending with a member of the infantry tonight. Adam is attending with Williams.”
Trish blinked a bit at that, “Williams?”
Amy nodded, draping her shawl and gloves over the crook of one arm. “Angelina is her first name, I believe. Captain Helmsley spoke very highly of her.”
“Interesting,” Trish commented in a neutral tone, shedding her robe quickly to search for her gloves. “Will you be meeting Hunter at the ball or is he escorting you from here?”
“Hunter and I will meet outside of the ballroom,” Amy replied, grabbing the red rose boutonniere from the fridge. “Chris is escorting you, correct?”
Trish nodded though Amy couldn’t see the gesture, the blonde teen in the bathroom so she could put her jewelry on. “Could you just give me a hand with my necklace?”
Amy appeared moments later, the redhead setting down her shawl and gloves to assist. “I remember when Adam’s mom sent this…” She smiled, fastening the delicate gold chain for her friend. “There, all done.”
Trish smiled, the two teens then exiting the bathroom. Once Chris arrived, they all headed down to the ballroom; Jay and Adam not far behind.
