Adam fidgeted in his seat as the dinner wore on, the blonde steadfastly ignoring the pair that he was seated next to. As much as he wanted to leave, Adam knew that he couldn’t, so instead he focused his attention on the mostly bland food in front of him. At least that way, he could easily mask the pain, hurt, anger and jealousy that threatened to play easily across his features. He was also aware that by turning his attention away from his food, he would probably hear it from Jay.

Although, if he was paying any attention, Adam would have realized that Jay was preoccupied with his own personal dilemma.

Amy may have just written it off to training and the fact that she and Jay had a great deal of similar classes to finish, but since waking from her coma; Jay had barely left her side. The redheaded pilot was still unaware that Jay had stayed in the ICU nearly every day, not that he was about to tell her anytime soon. He had missed her and felt real fear seeing her nearly die in front of him. Glancing up from his plate to have a sip of water, Jay managed to catch the conflicted gaze of the blonde female across the table.

Trish picked methodically at her food, well aware of the already precarious situation that she was in and how much worse she had potentially made it by accepting Chris’s offer to go to the ball tomorrow.

She wasn’t entirely certain if she had made the right decision or what had compelled her to say yes in the first place. Just earlier she was willingly kissing Adam…and thoroughly enjoying it. And Trish would readily admit, she enjoyed Chris’s company as well but he hadn’t even kissed her yet, hadn’t been through combat with her yet. Well, in sum, Chris didn’t know her like Adam did. Eventually she realized that she would get to know him beyond what she knew now anyway and she was looking forward to that prospect.

“So…” Amy drew out the word amidst the palpable tension, the redhead desperately trying to think of something to say.

Luckily for her, she didn’t have to worry about that for very long as a familiar alarm sounded. Like clockwork, the pilots dispersed, heading straight to the hangers where the mobile suit were kept. It would be the first time since her injury that Amy would be out in the field, but predictably, she was among the first to be out there.

“Are you fucking crazy?” Jay hissed over the private communication between the five. “Or have you already forgotten about what happened last time?”

“What are you talking about?” Amy replied, switching the line to private between them. “I’m fine.”

“Yeah, because almost dying means that you’re fine.”

“Seriously Jay, what’s the point. This line could and should be used by everyone in our team.”

“… Forget it.”

Amy rolled her eyes a little, opening the line back up to Trish, Adam and Chris so the team could stay in constant communication for the duration of the fight.
