After a break in the seemingly never ending activity, this one coming between ATV racing and parasailing, Amy decided that a much needed phone call to Randy was in order. She was well aware that he was trying to pursue a new co-worker of his, the redhead having encouraged him in the endeavor. Amy had never met Christy, but she was fairly certain that Randy would be happy. After the phone call was over, Amy let out a breath that she hadn’t realized she was holding; an invisible weight seemingly lifted from her shoulders.

A part of her still cared for Randy but maybe they were just better off as friends… especially since they had so much difficulty putting any sort of label on what was going on between them.

And maybe that was the problem; Amy thought as she seated herself on the beach, toes sinking into the nearby wet sand as the waves lapped teasingly at her feet. Her previous relationships had always been unconventional, relaxed and with no real boundaries. That wasn’t to say that feelings had never been involved but Amy had still felt the sense of freedom that she strongly desired.

With Randy it was different because while he was also looking long-term, his relationship goals differed from hers.

Before they’d even reached their agreement of friends-with-benefits, Randy had once spoken about getting married. Not specifically to Amy of course, because he was aware that it wasn’t in her cards. He wanted the wife and children in the long run while Amy wanted nothing to do with it. Maybe one day she would change her mind on the children part but her mind was firmly made up on the idea of marriage.

Shaking her head a little to clear her thoughts, Amy made to stand, toe sinking further into the wet sand as she did so.

The last person that she expected to see was Punk but sure enough, there he was… standing right behind her and blocking her escape route to the waiting vehicles. Not in the mood or a potential argument, Amy sought to just walk around him. But apparently he had other ideas and wasn’t about to make this easy by any stretch.

But he didn’t stop her with words, Amy not having much time to react before his mouth was on hers; one hand at the small of her back while the other rested firmly at the base of her neck.

At first, Amy was too stunned to respond. Of course he had said that he was going to kiss her when she least expected it and now certainly qualified as one of those moments. Still, it didn’t take too much longer for her to react; lips parting easily to acquiesce entrance to Punk’s seeking tongue. And as cliché as it sounded in her head, Amy felt as if her body was on fire from this kiss; Punk’s hands gripping her hips while her hands found purchase on his bare shoulders.

When the need for precious oxygen overtook their need for each other, they finally parted; Punk’s forehead coming to rest briefly against hers. “Remember that, next time you’re with Alex.”

He started to pull away from her but before he could do that, Amy threaded her hands through his hair, bringing his mouth back to hers for a quick, but intense kiss. “Remember that, next time you’re alone.” Releasing her hold, she arched an eyebrow at him, hazel eyes communicating just as much s her words, “There’s nothing between me and Alex.”

And with those parting words, Amy walked away.
