Summary: They left New York City to open a doggy daycare in smalltown Midstate New York... what could possibly go wrong?
Notes: A/U, short start. Mixture of real and ring names; Lita and Velvet are siblings. Anything else and I shall let you know.
New York City, NY
Jamie Sky entered the cramped apartment she shared with her sister Amy, catching sight of said sibling asleep on the couch. Amy’s current job as a DJ kept her at work late, while Jamie often worked overnights. And because of the funeral that they’d recently attended, the two sisters were working overtime to compensate.
Little did they realize that their lives would change in a matter of minutes due to the recent passing of that relative.
“Ames?” Jamie gently nudged her sister’s foot, “Amy… did you check the mail?”
“It’s on the table,” Amy muttered into a pillow, “didn’t open it though.”
Jamie nodded, reaching for a blanket to cover her older sister with. “I’ll go check now, hopefully we don’t have any bills…” Setting her keys on the counter, Jamie settled at the table to check through the mail.
“Cell phone bills,” the blonde set those to one side, “and an official and sealed letter?” Blinking, Jamie slid the envelope open, not recognizing the sender’s address at all.
Ms. Jamie Sky and Ms. Amy Sky,
My condolences on the recent loss of your aunt but you should be made aware that she left a property in Ostego County, NY to you both. The property includes a barn, extensive pastured farmland, a small organic garden, a small apple orchard, horse barn, pond, in-ground pool, five bedroom main home and two bedroom guest-home.
The property is well taken care of, the house in move-in condition. Your aunt expressed that she had hoped you both would occupy the property but you are also permitted to sell the home and split profits.

Jamie blinked, keeping the letter open while she digested this bit of information. Obviously, she knew where Ostego County was, that’s where Cooperstown was. But they lived in New York City… in a cramped apartment, barely making enough to get by. She and her sister still had some savings left from their grandmother, so if they did move, it wasn’t like they would starve…
“But what do we do?” Jamie questioned aloud, her eyes soon falling on a framed picture of her and Amy when they were younger, the two sisters surrounded by the family dogs. “That’s it! We’ll go after our dream.”
Grinning like a madwoman, Jamie opened her laptop to google ‘doggy daycares’ so she could see what she was about to get her and her sister into.
