Painted Face-Rayne Fall Challenge 2009
This is a 100 word drabble written or the Rayne Fall Challenge on Copper For A Kiss, for the prompt 'Costume'. I hope some of you enjoy, feedback appreciated.
When River was a student, her ballet teacher taught the whole class about performance. She said that a wisp of hair or an arched brow made the character. Every detail was crucial. It made you feel like a different person.
River never got told how to be a different person. She knew it, as she turned agonizingly on her toes, she felt her character through every stretch of her arm.
So when she steals Inara’s face paint, reddens her lips and darkens her eyes, she does it to become more than the crazy girl.
The girl that Jayne might want.
