Went to see VNV Nation last night at the Classic Grand. Kirsten didn't see a lot of them at Infest so was keen to see them properly, and reckons they're up there with Motley Crue* in terms of enjoyment LOL. It was an excellent gig, 2 hours along with the usual banter from Ronan. Oh and there was a marriage proposal. When Ronan got wind of it he pulled the couple on stage so the guy could propose to the girl in front of everyone.
What other random stuff can I write about? Little D is enjoying school. I'm still seeing him on Wednesdays but it's a short day. Still, enough time to pick him up, swing by Gorgie to pick up Anna (who recently decided to sell her tea room, Ephemeris, as she's due to have a baby), and drive out to Craigies Farm shop. Apparently there are still strawberries for picking! Pumpkins are looking good too.
Today I submitted a group Expression of Interest for an artist commission - creating some public art which will be installed in a new building at the Royal Victoria Hospital. I've spent a few days working on it, along with six other artists in my arts collective, and I really do hope we get shortlisted. There's a great mix of skills in our group and I'm sure we can deliver something great. I'd like to see the KMSO Collective move up a level, for the benefit of the collective itself and for the artists, and this would be a fantastic way to do it!
Kirsten and I did loads of work on my flat last week. Bathroom is all shiny and white - well it was when we left. I haven't managed any DIY this week though - writing up and pulling together everything for that commission has eaten much of my time. I need to finish painting some pipes and to fix some problems with the bathroom door. Aside from that, the outside windows need painted/repaired as necessary, and some final cleaning up and arranging of furniture then we can get the photographer in to take photos for the schedule. Tenants may give us a few hurdles on the way there.
I've been lacking in actual paid work this last month, but that should change starting next week with another project kicking off at SAC. I will also be meeting an old colleague about a potential web based project for landlords. Then there's Art in Healthcare who are hoping to secure funding for a project which will involve some website work, so hope to hear that they get that. And I heard back about an enquiry I made to a educational games development company, they asked what my day rate is, I guess that means they're vaguely interested! Then there might be some work for a decorating company, and a builders too. All promising, but would be nice to know for sure I've got things to keep me busy.
*Apparently I'm going to enjoy seeing them in December
