Over on FFrants, someone posted a while back a review that took a threesome fic a little too personally. Now we have more holier-than-thou fun. I'm very amused, needless to say. Pity the threesome fic isn't that good --Hiei/Kurama/Yuusuke does have so many possibilities. *drools*

My family has reached a consensus on the woman in charge of the Food/Drink committee at the ACC: she's a fool who has no idea what she's doing. Bring back Sunday brunches, wench! Sunday Lunch just isn't as cool, and all the food is mediocre/subpar except for the Indian food...and I don't like Indian food! And they want to turn the Pavilion into a retail space? No no no! That's been a restaurant for as long as I can remember --way back to when my family was first in Taiwan. It's a cozy space and easily made casual or spiffy depending on the occasion. Where are the management people getting the crazy idea that all these changes are good?

I've been listening to this song, Melting Pot, by Boyzone for years without paying much attention to the words. (Does anyone else remember Boyzone? *sigh*) And I find myself suddenly feeling disturbed and vaguely offended by the lyrics. I wonder what it means to be offended by a song preaching universal tolerance; admittedly, the song calls for universal tolerance via erasure of all differences, which is just stupid. Am I getting cranky in my old age?

Mebbe y'all can tell me if I'm being overly sensitive --it's such a pretty song(YSI), really; the words form a nice verbal rhythm, and the boys can sing. They also did Words(YSI), which was like OMG uber popular in middle school. Well, at least I think it was. Everybody at ISB knew all the words to it, IIRC, and it was pretty.

Speaking of overly sensitive --whoaboy someone's incensed at their 'little sister' (Sockpuppet?) getting their Sailormoon Suefic sporked. Wank is rarely unbelievably funny aside from the snarky observations made at Fandom_Wank, but oh god the actual wank-generating comments at the OP are hilarious. Though I must admit, the Suethor herself does have a way with words, if not fictional narrative: calling her sporkers "second rate strumpets" was brilliant, IMHO.

I watched the season 3 finale of Making the Band 3 last night on Youtube (oh god thank goodness for youtube!), and I'm...irritated. It's not really a season, with only nine episodes and the last episode being a finale concert. I loved the first two seasons of the show because it showed the struggles these young women had to go through to get into the music industry, and because catfights and drama are always fun to watch. And dancing! I love dancing. I recognize that since Danity Kane is now a viable commodity, they want to cut down on the interesting drama presented in the media and focus more on marketing, but still...I feel gypped. The last episode resolved nothing; this 'season' had no overarching plotline/cohesiveness, and because of the need to focus on marketing rather than entertainment MTV edited out anything remotely dramatic or interesting. I would've loved to see the girls bond in a real way --with arguments, disagreements, then making up, instead of the "Oh, we now need to get to know each other because we're a group now. Yeah. Oh look, we love each other so much!" telling-and-not-showing treatment we got. The human interest is a major factor why there are fans of the group already. Feed the fans!

And Aundrea...I love her, I do. And I respect her desire to maintain her conservative values while being a pop idol. But her costume for the finale concert was awful. A black v-neck tshirt with a white jacket (the girls ALL had various black clothing items under identical white DK jackets), and a pair of black spandex shorts that looked like Japanese schoolgirl gym shorts. Not even kidding. Dawn had on similar shorts, but hers didn't look all spandexy and were offset nicely by a thick belt and a bit of belly skin. I recognize that to keep the group overall looking 'balanced' in terms of skin, black and white, Aundrea had to show off her legs since she doesn't want to expose anything topside. But my god, the clothing team should be given a good scolding --the shorts were terrible, and the top as well. Give her a spaghetti strapped tank that covers her chest, and give her shorts that are actually shorts and not granny undies.

Whatever happened to that poppin' dance track from season 2? Aubrey and Aundrea's group wrote a catchy version, and the other groups did pretty well with the lyrics as well. So whatever happened to it? I want to know! Showstoppers is a lousy song. It's like Madonna's Vogue, which I also dislike because it's not a frickin' song at all. But those who like Vogue will like Showstoppers. Probably. I'm much more in love with the song where the chorus goes 'One shot! All I need is one shot!' because it's pretty and fun and *squee*. Album drops on the 22nd; I wonder if there's an international version coming out. My first Britney Spears CD was a European edition that had special tracks on it the US version didn't have.

I have to admit, though, the name 'Danity Kane' bothered me like crazy at first because it's so clumsy rolling off the tongue, but it's growing on me.

Flying to Singapore tomorrow. W00t. Computer courses and watch-magazine hunting!
