No matter how we try to free ourselves from the past, we sometimes find ourselves slipping back. There is no shame in it, or there ought not be. That is still a part of you, and those who care for you will be present to keep you grounded.

Apologies are not necessary. Such things are bound to happen when one is put under undue and unexpected stress. The more important part is moving forward with the support of those around you.

You're right -- couldn't've thought of a better comparison myself. If you want you could keep tending to a dyin' houseplant, but it's an unsightly thing. Best to trim it down, as you said...even if it don't grow back the same way.
