Saturday we went on a drive to picnic in the Vale of Glamorgan - only 20 minutes or so out of Cardiff towards the ocean - it is a beautiful, ancient landscape of thatched cottages, manor houses, and acres of vibrant green pasture and ancient patches of woodland. Last Easter weekend we also went to the above stone at Tinkinswood for a picnic. Dating at approximately 4000BC with the largest megalithic capstone in the UK, with 50 graves excavated in 1914 the mound is 300 feet long and 57 feet wide.
This is a smaller chamber 20 minutes walk away from Tinkinswood, where cremated remains have been discovered. A peaceful, warm spring afternoon.
