I am finally catching up, albeit somewhat slowly, with livejournal. I've been pretty much absent from here for over a month. The holidays and first couple of weeks back in Wales have been weird, fun, insightful and already the year feels somewhat action-driven. Alot of old habits are being brought to consciousness in some way or another, old ( Read more... )

Good to hear from thee. I am glad to hear things are moving along nicely for you. I read about your novel - sounds exciting and courageous - a fine plan! Best of luck with that (I shall volunteer as possible proof reader!).

I am also attempting to take better care of myself - psychologically and physically. I have taken up learning to play squash with Matt which is energetic, and yoga so far 3 times a week and improving to more (by mtself, not lessons - which I am unsure of, though that is how I have always done it - though nothing particualry advanced due to that). I need to read upon it a bit mroe again, but so far it is helping alot (I hope to find some good postures for shoulder/neck pain - something that has bothered me a little over winter). I have the perfect peaceful flat for it now - no excuses!

So all is gradual...

I have been accepted on to the Masters degree I wanted most. Great news, but overwhelming - I need to somehow secure the money for it. But I also have another full time 9 month bursary funded conservation course to apply for beginning in April. Exciting and much more realistic in terms of finances, but probably competitive. 2007 = dramatic change for me, I hope! Though it shall be somewhat scary too.

Many thanks for your kind wishes, the same for you too.

Oooh! A proof reader. Sadly, I fear that it will be such drivel that I will never let it see the light of day beyond my writer's club here in town. However, overall, I think that regardless of that it will be a fantastic exercise for me.

Best of luck with your yoga. Were you one of the people who got a meditation CD from me? Probably not, I tended to avoid sending them to people in the UK because I figured my accent would be too jarring to allow people to relax. (And I STILL owe you CDs! I am so ashamed!)

Sounds like there are exciting decisions to be made on the education front, and that 2007 will be a year of much action for you. I wish you the best of luck on whichever path you choose.

I am pleased you are keen to give it a try, I think the most important barrier to come across with one's own creative work is that of having fun with it. I am starting to get that was with some drawing I've recently taken up again. A good feeling.

Thanks for the luck - I am virtually starting over, and a little unsure of my body's limits so far, but I always chose gentle postures - those I could figure out from text/photos. I suppose classes cannot be substituted, but I am not good at classes....a flaw I should remedy sometime.

No I didn't know you had produced a meditation cd - sounds useful. (No problem regarding the package, I've been terrible at such things myself - I am sure I have promsied you something too! I had hoped to make Yule cards - only I didn't make enough and then missed the USA postal date.)

Many thanks, I hope so too. It all seems a little scary and still soemwhat overwhelming just now. I have to fill in and send off my application for the funded 9 month placement and pick my favourite out of 12. Judgement wil lcome in the next 2-3 weeks!

Hope you had a good weekend :)
