retinal goodness

Yeah, I haven't posted much recently, because I've been busy with editing. Well, a generic picture is worth a thousand words, so a picture of the inside of my eye must be worth even more than that, right? I went to the eye doctor today for a routine checkup and had my retinas imaged with amazing optomap technology, and my eye doctor offered to ( Read more... )

I got optomap photos taken at the last optometrist appointment I went to, but he didn't offer to e-mail me my photos. Shoot! I've got one interesting looking scar (at least to me) that matches a peripheral blind spot. Glad to hear your retinas are well.

Oh yes, I almost said, "I'm not trying to rub it in for people whose retinas aren't as healthy." :)

Wow, you got the originals? I had to make do with crappy phone photos. Still, very cool and I must say you have a striking retina there, woman!

Sounds like this thing one of the local optometrists does...

They scan your eyes and customize the glasses to the contours of your eyes.

Looks like MVO does optomap too. I should go in and see if they'll do those. I'd love to see what's left of my retinas. :) Might even be worth paying for (since they make it clear on the optus site that it's not "covered.")

Yeah, insurance doesn't cover the optomap, but it's only $33 (at least at Sunnyvale Optometry), which isn't bad for such a cool (oh, yeah, and diagnostically useful) set of pictures.
