in my hot little hands

I have beside me a binder holding the first draft of Falling Apart. It's 138 pages, in this particular 12-point font and with these particular margins -- I don't know how that relates to pages in a published book. It's 68,796 words. I spent 11 months writing it, though I also worked on some other novels during that time.

It's 138 pages/68,796 words of unbroken text, so the very first step is to separate the damn thing into chapters, before I inflict it upon anyone else. I'm not too good at envisioning a novel in chapters from the start, and in this case, I never got to the point of deciding how it should be divided.
