The #1 Reason I Am Having A Bad Valentine's Day
So, yeah, people of a certain age just shouldn't drive. It's sad, but it's true.
A prime example of this happened to myself just over an hour ago. I was on my way home from C++ class, sitting at a red light behind a small line of cars, when out of nowhere I feel/hear someone scraping against my back bumper in a poor attempt to make a left turn. After venting with a number of choice words (like "Nooo!, &@^!#*! Not my new &^!@ing car!), I pulled over to the turn lane this woman was so eager to get to, put on my hazard lights, and got out of my car. I approached the car calmly, expecting the driver to either get out as well or roll her window down. Instead, she opened her door a crack and proceeded to speak in gibberish.
Me: Hi there. Looks like you scratched my car a bit when you were turning. I don't know, maybe we should exchange insurance information...?
Old driver on crack: QAQLKJOEIQRJSLKDNFLKSJDRFKLSDJFLJSLDfj! I SAW SOMETHING IN THE ROAD! OIWUERIJLVKNDLKJSDLFKJGLDFJG:! *Slowly begins to shut her door and then continues going on like a loon in her car.*
Me: Excuse me? I can't hear you. Can you open your door or window for me?
ODOC: LKJOIQWUEOIAJEJSDLKFJSQIOWUE. *Nearly has heart attack.*
Me: *At a loss of what to do.*
Me: Tell you what, it actually doesn't look too bad. You just barely scratched the bumper. I'm going to just go ahead and let it go...
ODOC: Okay then, you have a nice day! *Drives away.*
Me: o_O;;
So, yeah, felt like I had somehow been had. I was freaking out the whole way home, trying to figure out if I should have done something different and tortured the poor old lady some more. When I got home I got a chance to do a full inspection. THANK GOD, it really wasn't that bad (huzzah for my clear judgment in stressful situations). 90% of it came off just from me wiping it, and the rest is a vague impression of rubber, which I can probably get off with some elbow grease.
Phew.
With any luck, the rest of my day will go smoothly.
