acts of kindness, hprarefest

A few weeks ago I had an exam in my personality psych class. I take my notes on my laptop, and an older, non-traditional student sits behind me most of the time. She sent me an email a few days before the test asking if she could borrow my notes because it's been a while since she's been in a classroom setting, and was worried that she didn't have enough material to look over for the exam. I sent my notes to her right away, not thinking about it much because any time people ask to borrow notes from me I try to be generous because that's how I'd like to be treated if I were in the situation.

A week goes by, our class gets canceled because of an ice storm, and today when we show up she gives me a $15 gift card for the local pet store! This may not seem like a lot, but since I have a rather large guide dog that eats a special kind of food that you can only buy at pet stores, I was pretty happy. I didn't expect any kind of compensation for sending these notes--it never occurred to me to expect any--and I was actually going to buy dog food in the next couple of days anyway. It's such a nice story that I wanted to share it with you guys.

Does anyone else have stories like this? I'd love to hear them.

Working on my entry for hprarefest and I've got a good portion of it done. I'm loving the characters I decided to work with and I can't wait until the fest starts. Hopefully I'll have some extra writing time in the next couple of days because of the snowstorm we're getting. Today is the first day of a five day snow dump. I got a bunch of baking supplies at the grocery store yesterday so that'll be a fun option once I get over playing in the snow and being outside in the cold.
