third time's the charm

Jul 12, 2005 10:18

Name:Sarah Ann Heart Pink Sky Gennis, but i go by Sadie. And no,
my parents weren't hippies (sadly) they were just a little caught up in
having given birth to yet another little girl so they let my older
sister Emi (who at the time was at the ripe name-giving age of four)
decide
what my middle name would be.

Age (13 or up; we stick to LJ rules): I am fifteen going on
sixteen (in february, but still, it's not that far away and a
girl
is allowed to dream about the day when she finally won't have to trade
pancakes for car rides from her now 19 year old sister who makes me
rent
her movies/make her breakfast.)

Location:Urbana, Illinois. a nice college town smack dab in the
middle of flat-ville USA.

Where did you hear about this community? no one reccommended it
actually. my friends and i always play that game "which character are
you in ___?" and we coudln't decide what house i'd belong to in HP so,
here i am.

How much time are you willing to invest in this community? i'd
have to say far too much. i'm a live journal addict (in addition to my
on going love affair with imdb and kittenwar.com). if there's nothing
to
do i just wander aimlessly around the lj world finding places like this
or doing things with my other communities i belong to.

PART 1 – Canon

1. Have you read all the books?yes, sadly i just
finished HP5. i know, terrible. but my mom called first dibs when it
came out
and then i was whisked off into the world of summer musicals and then
in a flash it was school, leaving no room for HP leisure time. i was
devestated. but now that summer has returned i have finally had a
chance
to catch up and am now avidly awaiting the book release this friday.

2. Give us your personal interpretation of each Hogwarts house (in
terms of atmosphere, mentality, intra-house relationships et cetera
–
these are just a few examples).
Gryffindor:This house has the most team-like feel to it. The
people in it are more like a loving-but slightly dysfuncional-family
than
the other three. They are of course brave and are the most outgoing. I
think that's a key to Gryffindor, the people in it stand out. It's
probably the most fun house to be in because the atmosphere just seems
so
light and spontaneous. What makes Gryffindor special is also the fact
that it's not all fun and games, it also has a serious side that
balances
out perfectly with what I mentioned above.

Slytherin:They are the elitists. They have the most attitude and
arrogance out of all the houses. They aren't all bullies like Drace,
Crab, and and Goyle but they have very similar attitudes. You never
really see Slytherins having much contact with members of the other
houses
unless it's picking a fight. They don't have a lot of tact or respect
for anyone they don't deem "worthy." They're ruthless and well,
fascinating.

Hufflepuff:You don't hear much about hufflepuff because they
aren't the kind of people books are written about. They're very nice
and
come off as the sensitive ones. They aren't the kind of people to go
off
on adventures but the kind who would take care of the injured when they
return. Hufflepuff seems very laid back and nothing about them really
stands out except for their niceness. They probably have the most
push-over's than any of the other houses but that doesn't mean they
lack
strong spirits.

Ravenclaw:Ravenclaw is usually thought of as the intellectuals.
They are the people who seem to care the most about things like grades
and of course, rules. The people in Ravenclaw live by the motto "look
before you leap." They are the ones who think things through. They
aren't real risk takers because they know that chances are usually
going to
be against you and they don't have the hope and adventure seeking
attitudes of some of the other houses.

3. What would be your favourite flavour of Bertie Bott’s
Every
Flavour Beans and why (note: as the name implies, all possible flavours
exist)? guava juice. i. love. guava juice. along with many other
foods and drinks of course, but the only one that i can think of that
would be texture-ly perfect for a jelly bean is guava juice. somehow
mozzerella stick beans and bacon beans just don't sound as appealing as
a
succulent guava bean.

4. If you were on your House’s Quidditch Team, which position
would
you preferably play and why? seeker. hands down. i don't have the
best reaction time if i'm caught a bit off guard. The seeker zooms
about
the field with their mind on one thing and one thing only, the snitch.
In that position I'd be able to focus all my attention on the little
golden ball plus the exhilaration and adreniline rush you'd get while
speeding around would be fantastic. I'm terribly clumsy (one of my
friends
actually bought me a construction helmet to wear while I work in the
scene shop for my drama club) which eliminates all other positions
really
but I also just would love the thrill of being a seeker.

5. (Optional) What HP conspiracy theory do you hold true unless it
is textually proven otherwise? (i.e. Snape is a vampire, Ron is
Dumbledore, etc. –there are loads of these theories. Feel free
to
contribute
your own)?
I hate not answering this question but it's one in the morning and I
just ain't thinkin straight.

6. (Optional. If you can't answer #5, make sure you answer this
one.) What is your favorite book aside from HP and why? I adore,
absolutely ADORE Les Liasons Dangereuses. It's an old french
novel that has been translated to english and is actually the basis for
the
movie Cruel Intentions. I love the drama in it and the intense
emotions. It's like a classy trashy novel and ever since i read it in
6th grade i've never been able to shake my love for Sophie's
World
so i'm going to have to tie those two.

7. What would your Room of Requirement look like? Apart from it
looking exactly like Hagrid's Hut it would, depending on my mood
change, but for the majority of the time i think it'd be crawling with
adorable kittens, puppies, bunnies and what not (no birds though,
unless it
happens to be a penguin. love penguins. hate birds.) and there would be
a tele (i'm a sucker for reality tv and disney channel), a kickin
stereo with whatever music i was in the mood for, minifridge chock full
of
snacks and drink varieties. and did i mention the kittens?

8. Describe your wand and tell us why you picked that design.
i'm going to have to go with a 13" weeping willow with the core being a
phoenix feather. Ever since I was little I've been in love with weeping
willows and after seeing Pocahontas it sealed the deal. There was just
something so wise and also so sad about them. Like they'd been through
a lot in their lifetime but still made it through and came out strong.
The phoenix feather is another fascination. I just think the idea of
the phoenix bursting into flames and then being reborn anew is just
beautiful. Phoenix's are so mystical and they have this mysterious air
about
them that's calming.

What's Your Personality
Type?

10. Who is your role model and why? I'm going to have to say my
sister. Out of everyone I know or have heard of I don't know why but
I've never been quite able to shake the longing to be like her. She's
outgoing, always herself, never just shuts down rather than having
people
poke fun at you being yourself. Sure, she has her badsides, many, MANY,
badsides but she's boistrous and fun in a way that is admired, not
shunned. I just wish i could be like that.

11. What would you like to have accomplished at the end of your
life? I would just like to feel completely comfortable with who I
am. There's no other way to put it. I'd just like to be happy in my
skin.

12. Would you sooner commit a crime against your kin or your
countrymen? My kin. I would rather die than betray the one's I love
because I know that if I lived I wouldn't be able to handle the guilt
and yes, I do love my country. Well, not really. I feel attached
because
it's my home but it wouldn't be my home without the kin.

13. What would your animagus be and why? A dog. Growing up Emi
was the cat and I was the dog. I was absolutely obsessed. Late at night
when i was suppossed to be asleep I'd get under my covers and pretend
it was a cave and I was a wolf pup. I don't know how many hours I
wasted
trying to get my tongue to lap up water like their's do (I've finally
come to the concluison that that is, sadly, a physical impossibility)
Hell, I used to believe, actually believe that i spoke dog. I
was
a weird kid, ok?

14. What would your patronus be and why? A wolf because I've
always felt this connection with them. When I grew up I wanted to
either
be Julie of the wolves or one of the wolves. They're such amazing
creatures and I just admire them.

15. What career would you consider if you were indeed part of the
wizarding world and why? I would love to be a teacher because
that's what I want to be in the "muggle world" and just think how much
tighter it'd be to teach wizardry. Honestly. It'd be such a rewarding
experience and it wouldn't get boring because the students would always
find
new ways to mess up their work and instead of having to correct it with
a red pen my pen could turn into a donkey or something. You'd never
know what was going to happen but you'd always know you made a
difference.
