The holidays came and went already. I hardly noticed! I've been studying extra hard lately. As Head Girl, I should at least try and set a good example. Anyways, after the holiday break, the school year seems to fly by even faster than normal and I like to be prepared.

To tell the truth, it's much easier to be extremely occupied with school work than to deal with personal issues lately. Ever since Ron's love letter, things seem so much more complicated between the three of us. I love them both as best friends. They've been like brothers to me. Now Ron has gone and made everything all awkward! He's expressed that the love he feels for me is more than just brotherly or comraderly love. Why did he have to make things so difficult like this?
I'm sure Harry knows now fully what happened. I think they had a talk about it. Of course, neither of them thought to consult me on the matter. Really, they can be so impossible! Whenever I see either of them now they stammer and stutter and look completely awkward (Ron of course looked doubly awkward while transformed into the opposite sex). They can barely look me in the eye anymore, and are always muttering excuses about Quidditch practice. Really, Quiditch practice three times in the same day? Well, if that's how they want to deal with this, that's just fine with me! If they're not even brave enough to initiate a conversation! I have better things to occupy my time with than playing silly mind games!
But who am I kidding? I've been just as bad about acknowledging the situation as they have. It's not their fault. The truth is, I'm afraid. I'm afraid of how this will change things. I'm afraid of my own feelings for Ron which I've tried to deny, even to myself, all this time. I don't want things to be different between the three of us. Change is so hard. Over the years, we've had to deal with a lot of change, but the one thing that never changed was our friendship. I know I'm being ridiculous. Nothing can last unchanged forever.
I have to admit, the reason I didn't go to the winter dance was because Ron never even asked me to go with him! Even Harry had a date! I stayed in my room and cried. Crookshanks was the only one there to comfort me! (Actually, he wasn't much of a comfort. He and Ron never could get along, really). Ron even got voted Snow King! I bet every girl in the school wanted to dance with him! No one must ever know I was in my room crying! They must especially never know it was over a boy! My reputation would be damaged beyond repair!
Ron went home for the Holiday. He won't be back til the 3rd. He sent me an owl that we should talk when he gets back. I suppose I have to give him credit for that. Even though he couldn't say it to my face! But then again, neither could I...
