Whose idea was it anyway?
Christmas is coming and I love Christmas! Ask those around me and they'll tell you that I've been counting down to Christmas since 25th June (because you know, we're finally closer to this year's Christmas than we were to last year's, and that makes it more official.) What I find to be a real bummer though, are the gift exchanges that happen at just about every single party. It's tough buying something for an unknown recipient, and it isn't exactly fun receiving something under the same circumstances. WHO CAME UP WITH THAT IDEA?! My good friend, Google, can at best tell me the origins of Christmas gifts. But gift exchanges and secret Santas?? Sigh. Christmas is a season of giving, as we remember when God gave His beloved Son, Jesus. But gifts are only meaningful when you know the thought and effort that the buyer put in to see that smile on your face, no? While I do look forward to shopping for gifts for dear ones, don't be surprised if you find me rummaging through shops to find a gender-neutral age-defying gift exchange gift.
