So I was reading this Supernatural fic...

I tell you, tracy_loo_who's fic "The Forty-First Year" is eating my brain alive. I don't know why, but something about the way she's written the Dean/Castiel pairing in this story is eating at me to do something to acknowledge its sheer awesomeness.

I was thinking of doing a podfic for the story, but while I'm dithering on the other podfic I promised Leah and Springwoof for "The Body Holographic" (and now hopefully I'll finally HAVE time to get it done!), I've been listening to a LOT of music, it being exam time and my busy brain needing to occupy itself while absorbing knowledge.

kitsu84 made an absolutely gorgeous fanmix for this fic already, and just...wow. It's absolutely fantastic and cool and perfect for the story, and it rocks, and you'd just wish there was more of it is all.

Which brings me to my point: just about every single mix I've come across features songs to match crucial parts of a fic. Which is great and cool in concpet and execution, but has anyone ever tried to do a mix as though scoring an entire movie? As in those "Full Recording Sessions" type soundtracks with not just 1 CD's worth but 2 or 3?

It's basically what I'm thinking of doing for that fic, if I can--make a movie-like soundtrack for it, that's complementary (hopefully) to the music of kitsu84's mix: kitsu84's picks are hard vocals and rock to set the mood, but I want to try for a cinematic feel, like Hans Zimmer or Howard Shore, using mostly instrumental and choral music and sounds...

At this point I begin to wonder if I've overstretched myself. Yet I already HAVE the music, sound effects and a playlist that is under constant revision as I discover new ways to arrange the songs and sounds, and add more music (the playlist currently stands at 2.1 hours and 83 separate tracks)...

The music listed below is one of the tracks in my putative 'mix...check it out.
