EDIT: I love my Wii, and this entry didn't do the best job of saying so. I don't want anybody to think that I don't believe it's the most incredible system I've ever played. It's amazing.
Nintendo is now replacing units with the same problem as mine for free, so that's pretty great. I know for a fact that Sony would never do something like that. Nevertheless, that doesn't change the fact that I have to start Zelda all over again because I can't transfer my save data off my machine (the update that would allow me to do so is only available -- wait for it -- as a download on WiiConnect24). Luckily, I've only had enough time to beat the first temple, and I know how to make it back there without too much trouble. Wii Sports data? Fuck that. Mii data? Fuck that. I just want to start playing Zelda again. Unless some miracle occurs (there are rare cases where units end up connecting, but reports of this have not come up in the past two days. The diagnosis of a busy server can pretty much be thrown out the window), I plan on shipping this thing back on Friday.
