Wow, I am soooo tired. Too tired to even read slash (so instead I'm posting to my lj, go figure).
I got to clean a sloth claw and rib at the lab today! With a toothbrush (and a makeshift wooden pick)! And solvent. LOTS of solvent. Oh yeah. Take a good look at that mood icon, because it will probably never be seen again. Solvent high may be giggly, but then your head starts to hurt.
Cleaning is oddly satisfying when a bunch of tar and matrix comes off at once and the bone starts to look more like an actual bone and less like a vaguely bone shaped blob of asphalt. Also, cleaning is kind of messy. The tar gunks up your gloves and then your fingers stick to your instruments and you end of knocking things over. I knocked over my dipping jar of solvent twice. Thank god for the newspaper. Then I got tar in my hair, solvent on my chin, and bits of matrix flying at my face. The moral of the story is do not wear pigtails in the lab. No matter how bad you think your hair looks that day, pigtails are a no-go.
