*~*~*~*~*~*
Donghae walked into the building of his new school with a blank expression on his face and headed straight to the main office. After handing the secretary his transfer slip, he was given his new schedule and locker assignment. He walked down the halls of his new school, eyes going back and forth from the paper in his hands to numbers on the walls, looking for the room he was supposed to be in. He then stopped in front of room 227 and stared at the door for a minute. He smoothed down his uniform for the 100th time and fixed his hair. After clearing the lump in his throat he hesitantly reached for the door handle.
The butterflies in his stomach increased tenfold as he walked into the brightly lit room and saw the classroom full of people staring at him. He could feel the eyes boring holes into his face as he handed his slip to the teacher. His just knew that his face was red, he could feel it. He hoped his teacher would be merciful and just send him to his seat immediately, sparing him any unnecessary embarrassment.
“Why don’t you introduce yourself?” Crap.
His teacher looked at him and sensing his nervousness he smiled warmly at him, a dimple appearing on the side of his mouth, and placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder.
“H-hi.” He cursed himself silently for stuttering like an idiot. He heard a few snickers and he could feel the heat climbing up his ears. “I’m Lee Donghae. Uh, nice to meet you all,” he bowed quickly and hoped that his awkward introduction was sufficient.
“Well Donghae, I’m Mr. Park and we’re delighted that you’re going to be joining us,” he smiled at him again. “Why don’t you take a seat…” he trailed off looking for a vacant seat. “Oh, you can sit next to Hyukjae. Hyukjae, can you raise your hand?”
Donghae turned to see a small hand raised hesitantly. As soon as Donghae made eye contact with the boy he blushed and put his hand down quickly. Donghae bowed to his teacher again and walked down the aisle to the seat next to Hyukjae. He smiled politely before turning back around to face the front.
Mr. Park continued his lecture where he left off before Donghae entered the room, but the latter could only keep up so much since he didn’t have the textbook yet. Hyukjae looked over and noticed the lost look on his face. He quietly moved closer to him and slid half of his book on his desk. Donghae looked up in surprise, but Hyukjae had his eyes glued to the book.
Donghae saw that his cheeks were tinted a soft pink and as he took in his appearance he found himself staring shamelessly at the boy. He had dark brown hair and beautiful milky white skin. He looked down at his lips, and marveled at how soft they looked. They were plump a perfect shade of pink. He wanted to look at his eyes, but his glasses and hair proved and difficult obstacle to see through. Donghae continued his unabashed staring, wondering why he was fidgeting and his was face getting pinker.
“Uh… could you stop staring at me?” Hyukjae whispered quietly. Donghae blinked in surprise at the quiet voice. He still wasn’t looking at him though, much to Donghae’s displeasure.
  “Why?” he asked.
“Cause… it’s e-embarrassing.” Donghae chuckled quietly as Hyukjae sinked further in his seat.
“You’re really cute, you know,” Donghae whispered.
Hyukjae finally turned to look at him, eyes wide with shock. Donghae was stunned at the other’s beautiful doe eyes. The surprise was evident in brown pools and as he stared, completely mesmerized, the other quickly looked away, burying his face in his hands. Donghae almost cooed at the adorable display he was putting on. He settled for grinning at him until the bell rang.
Hyukjae quickly packed up his things and was getting ready to rise up when another small boy approached him.
“You ready to go to lunch Hyuk?” the boy asked.
  “Y-yeah. Let’s go.”
“Hold on a second,” he turned to Donghae. “Hi. It’s nice to meet you, I’m Ryeowook,” he extended a delicate hand to Donghae, who shook it happily.
“Nice to meet you. I’m Donghae,” he said, smiling.
“Would you like to come eat lunch with us?” Ryeowook asked, much to Hyukjae’s horror.
“Sure,” Donghae said, smiling and grabbing his things to follow the two boys to the cafeteria.
Donghae walked with the two boys, happily chatting with Ryeowook. He would ask Hyukjae something, just to hear the other speak but he would only answer with one word before he blushed and looked away.
“Don’t mind him. He’s just really shy,” Ryeowook whispered to Donghae. Donghae nodded and glanced at Hyukjae, who was walking closely to and Ryeowook looking down.
After getting their lunch from line, they walked to the dining area to grab a table. Donghae could feel the stares and hear the whispers as he wwalked past each table and he felt his earlier nervousness creeping up again. He was thankful when Ryeowook finally spotted a table and quickly walked them over to where another boy sat.
“Hi hyung!” Ryeowook chirped happily as he took a seat next to the dark-haired boy.
“Hey Wookie,” he said as he ruffled the other’s hair affectionately. “Hey Hyuk,” he greeted Hyukjae, who had taken the seat on the other side of Ryeowook.
  “Hi Yesung hyung.”
“Hyung, this is Donghae. He’s going to be in our class now.”
“Oh, you’re the new kid?” Yesung asked looking at Donghae.
He nodded. “Nice to meet you.” Donghae took the chair next to Yesung. As soon as he sat down Yesung reached over to take a swipe at his philtrum. Donghae recoiled in surprise.
“Hyung! What did I tell you about that?!” Ryeowook scolded him, snatching his hand away. “I’m sorry. He can be a little… off sometimes.”
Donghae laughed. “It’s no big deal.” Strangely, it didn’t really bother him.
“I’ve been hearing about you all morning.” Yesung started to eat, as if nothing had happened.
Donghae winced. Rumors already? He hadn’t even been here two hours.
“It was nothing too bad. Although I’d watch out if I were you,” Yesung warned.
“Aww, why? What did I do?” Donghae whined. Ryeowook and Yesung both chuckled at his behavior, but what caught his attention was the little smile that Hyukjae let out.
“Well, apparently you already have a few fangirls. They can get pretty bad, so you should be careful.” Donghae’s eyes widened in shock. He had fangirls?
“Me?” he asked, not believing it. Sure he was sorta popular back in his hometown, but with a class as small as his was there weren’t that many options.
“Yes you. They’re staring at you now,” Yesung laughed. Donghae risked a glance around and indeed, there were quite a few eyes on him. He just chalked it up to him being the new kid.
“Didn’t you hear them giggling about you in class?” Ryeowook asked.
“No.” He was kind of focused on something else in class. He looked over and saw that Hyukjae was quietly eating his food.
“Well, apparently you’re pretty hot stuff,” Ryeowook joked and he noticed that Yesung suddenly frowned. “Aww, hyung you’re hot stuff too,” Ryeowook said and placed a quick peck on his cheek. Yesung quickly smiled at him and Donghae was a little embarrassed at the display they were putting on.
“They’re always like that. It takes some getting used to,” Hyukjae said quietly. Donghae looked at him and smiled, happy that he was finally starting to open up a little.
“Oh Hyuk, I almost forgot. I got this for you.” Yesung reached under the table and pulled a pink carton out of his bag.
“WAH! Thank you hyung!” Hyukjae cried and launched at Yesung, hugging him before taking the carton from him and plunging the straw in sipping happily.
Yesung and Ryeowook both chuckled at him, but it caught Donghae completely off guard. He was amazed at how excited the timid boy got so fast.
“Strawberry milk is Hyuk’s favorite thing, like ever,” Yesung explained.
“Really?” Donghae asked. Hyukjae smiled at him and nodded his head quickly before going back to his drink. Donghae could feel his heart skip a beat at the beautiful gummy smile that he flashed at him.
They finished their lunch happily chatting together, with Hyukjae considerably more comfortable after his drink. Then the bell rang, signaling the end of lunch and Donghae had bid good-bye to his new friends. He unfortunately didn’t have his next class with them so he set off down the hallway by himself.
Donghae was walking down the hall, trying to be discreet as he glanced at his schedule, when he accidently bumped into somebody.
“Oh, I’m sorry. I wasn’t looking where I was going,” he said quickly, reaching down to grab the papers the other had dropped.
“Don’t worry about it. I wasn’t either,” a voice said. He rose up with the papers in hand and locked eyes with a beautiful blond.
She smiled sweetly at him. “I’m Jessica. You must be the new guy,” she said.
“Uh, yeah,” he answered, hating that everyone referred to him with the same name. “Donghae,” he added.
“Where are you heading?” she asked.
  “To Chemistry.”
“Really? Me too!” she cried, very happy about the news. “Come on, I’ll show you the way,” she said grabbing his hand and pulling him down the hall.
They reached the classroom and Jessica did Donghae the favor of introducing him to the class and offering to be his lab partner for the semester. They had spent most of the hour with Jessica clinging onto Donghae, asking him how he liked the school and offering to be his tour guide until he got settled in. As class ended, she grabbed Donghae’s hand and pulled him out again, offering to take him to his next class.
As they walked down the hallways, Donghae noticed Hyukjae walking ahead of them. He quickly pulled out of Jessica’s hand to greet him.
“Hi Hyukjae,” he smiled happily when he caught up with him.
“Oh, um... hi Donghae,” Hyukjae replied with a small wave.
  “Where are you heading?”
  “Math.”
“Me too. Why don’t I go with you?” Without waiting for Hyukjae’s consent he turned around to Jessica. “Thank you for the help, but I’m just going to go with Hyukjae. I’ll see you later.” He gave Jessica a friendly smile and turned around quickly and went back to Hyukjae. He failed to notice the seething glare Jessica gave Hyukjae as the two walked away.
