I'm still a little knackered from spending a lot of Sunday at the Creative Stitches Show in Glasgow with Mum. We had a blast, managed not to spend a fortune, and I drooled over a lot of things. Tried spinning as well, and absolutely loved it. We're trying to convince Dad that a wheel would be an ideal joint Christmas present.
And then I had to get new tyres (only two fortunately) and back brake pads for my car. Meh but nessecary.
Also, watching the final Call the Midwife episode on Sunday night reinforced the fact I get my 'ship gene from my Mum. Only years of exposure has stopped Dad and wee brother from being terrified of us both awwing at exactly the same time.
Anyway, I meant to do this yesterday but see first paragraph.
What are you currently reading?
Cryoburn by Lois McMaster Bujold. As I suspected, I'm not enjoying this one quite as much (as in I'm reading it at a reasonable pace rather than in stay up all night to finish it mode), mainly because it's Miles-centric. I like Miles, I just haven't glommed onto him like I have other characters.
Quiet - The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking by Susan Cain. I'm only just at the introduction but it seems quite readable at the moment and I've heard good things about it.
What did you recently finish reading?
Scar Night!! Finally! I seemed to hit the spot where it just gelled for me and I rushed through the second half of the book. I'm definitely glad I forced myself to carry on as in the end I quite enjoyed it. (There definitely was enough for me to like otherwise I wouldn't have kept going.) I think it was just first book problems, too much description, too many ideas for one book, but in the end it was enjoyable. I like the main characters and some of the ideas enough to read the sequels but I'm not sure if I'll bee rereading this at any point in the future.
What do you think you’ll read next?
I suspect nothing new unless any of my requests come in at the library.
