how i spent my winter vacation

Dec 26, 2009 23:00

My boyfriend's here with me in Japan, so I've been kinda MIA recently. I'd like to thanks xushi, mtwendyr, savepureness, and leetje for the Christmas cards! They're all currently decorating my stereo speakers! Thanks guys! ♥

Thanks to untapdtreasure who made me a gorgeous LotS icon and a Hello Kitty is love banner for my profile. Thanks babe! They're awesome. ♥

Below the cut are some Christmas pictures and some random updates on my life, so without further adieu:

Christmas in Shikaoi

My Christmas tree. It's about a meter high and is sparsely decorated but is cute and served it's purpose. I was decorating it with my boyfriend while watching The Muppet Christmas Carrol, I got really homesick
and I burst into tears. I was bawling my face off and my boyfriend was like "what's wrong?" to which I replied: "TINY TIM DIES!!!!!" to which my boyfriend said: @__@ Yea... smooth Hilary, smooth!

My boyfriend with the watch I bought him. It's a nice watch!

My host mum bought me this shirt for Christmas. It's so cute! Thanks host mummzie! ♥

My boyfriend and I.

The apple salad (apples and whipping cream) and English Trifle I made. They were super good. My host dad ate the entire bowl of apple salad to himself, which means he liked it, which is awesome. ^__^

For those who are wondering, my boyfriend has an engagement ring as his Christmas present to me, but he has yet to propose. I'll defiantly let you all know when he does though.

My Lack of Starbucks Plight

I don't have a Starbucks near me and for all those who really know me, you know how that kills me. The nearest one is three hours away by train in Sapporo at the cost of $150 return. Even I can't justify the cost... well, justify it again.

Anywho...

I fashioned myself a ghetto latte:

Take two cups of milk, add one cup of brewed Starbucks coffee, 25th Anniversary Blend and a capful of Starbucks vanilla syrup. Boil. Whisk to make frothy. Pour into most beloved of mugs. Drink. Die of happy.

TeeVee

My boyfriend and I spent our Boxing Day watching The Big Bang Theory and I have to say, I didn't like it first, but it's growing on me quite a lot! The humor is actually a lot of fun, where I found it a little harsh to begin with. It's fun to know a lot of these references. Sheldon is my father (dear... God!) and the theme song kicks ass. Go Barenaked Ladies! ^__^

Music

I bought Within Temptation's acoustic album An Acoustic Night at the Theater and it's really fantastic. Sharon has an amazing voice, as always, but this venue really highlights that. There's a new song on the CD called "Utopia" and it's my new favourite song. Definitely pick it up if you're a Within Temptation fan. Should tide us over until their new CD comes out in 2010. Now, where did I put my iPod cable...

Japan

There's no turkey or Yorkshire Pudding or pumpkin pie even ovens here in Japan, so our Christmas dinner was rather not. We had corn and steak and mashed potatoes so it wasn't the worst thing ever, but I could really go for some cabbage rolls right now. Got any? Send them my way? Okay, thanks.

Tomorrow, my boyfriend and I are driving to Ashoro, a city about two hours from here to go to their Paleontology Museum! Dinosaurs! I come from Alberta, so I'm sure we'll be throughly unimpressed (haha) but we're excited. Dinosaurs! W00T!

I'm excited for New Years here: we're going to a Shinto shrine where we will welcome in the new year with my host family, sweet sake, and ringing of the bells. I'll have pictures, of course.

Until then, じゃあね! \(^w^)/
