taking a break

It feels so good to sit; I've been Mr. Activity (sounds like a toy for hyper kids) today.  I made a deal with myself to work on the apartment for three hours solid with no computer, book, magazine, masturbation, grooming, or other breaks of any sort.   If I can maintain the discipline to do this every week, my place will always be sparkling.

I picked up two packages that came in this week from my online shopping.  One is a very, very cool vintage lighter that almost makes me wish I still smoked.  I need figure where to pick up a refill for it.  The other is my new-to-me Citizen watch.  I'm slightly disappointed; it's in beautiful shape but doesn't seem to be running.  I'm going to have to research how the eco-drive works; maybe I need to leave it in the sun or something.  The website specified that it worked, and they tend to be honest, so I'm hoping it didn't break in transit.  Also, it's slightly tight on my wrist, which is good incentive to keep up my slimming.  I won both of these on shopgoodwill.com, which is a dangerous and wonderful thing for those of us who love thrifting.

I went into the city - well, Hyde Park - to go to the Smart Museum.  Unfortunately, there's some kind of jazz festival going on and parking was at a premium.  I found a semi-legal space, but couldn't relax because I was worried about my car.  I may try going back; they didn't have a lot, but what they have is very good.  There was also a large gallery closed for a new exhibition that's opening in October.

I stopped on the way back and went on a walk by Lake Michigan, which was lovely and surprisingly cold.  I was quite rosy-cheeked whilst walking into the wind.  Since it was a bit cold and this is technically my day off from exercise, I only walked about 45 minutes.

As I didn't spend as long in the city as planned, I did my grocery shopping for the week on the way home.  I've just finished making my lunches for the week - individual shepherd's pies with lean ground turkey, kidney beans, green bean, green pepper, a mushroom sauce to hold everything together, and garlic mashed potatoes on top.  The beauty of it is I only had to cook the turkey and potatoes, and then assemble them into my lunch containers; they'll "bake" in the microwave.  Ny apartment smells delicious, can't wait to try one.
