“Driveshaft sounds dirty.” Liam can’t help but laugh at his brother.
“What if this doesn’t work?”
“It will, Charlie.”
“We don’t know that, Liam. What if it doesn’t?”
Liam places both his hands on Charlie’s face.
“It’s going to work. We’ll make it work. It’s fate, Charlie. Okay?”
Charlie looks Liam’s eyes, and all he can see is ambition, but he can’t say no. He nods. “Right, Liam… Fate.”
Fate would bring them where they belonged.

Charlie puts the sharpie in his pocket and stares at the four letters he’s written across the bandages wrapped around his fingers. Fate.
