So, this is a better simple overview of what I do in Magliery lab. I try to insert DNA I want into a plasmid. The DNA carried in that plasmid are used to express proteins we want to study.

Here is an example of a "miniprep". It is basically a method of harvesting only plasmid DNA and getting rid of the cells and other random stuff within the cells. Actually is a very similar procedure to what I do in the lab.

I tried finding a video on DNA electrophoresis. No luck. Why did I post this stuff? I have no idea. I guess if anyone is reading my journal and doesn't have any clue what bacterial plasmid cloning is about....well, now you might have a better idea.
On a similar topic, my shit didn't work out today. One of those days were you have no idea what went wrong.... You just know it's all fucked up. Eh, tomorrow is a new day.
The horse Stacey's dad died on, a grey horse, was basically given away to a nice lady stacey knows. In turn, the nice lady gave the horse to a teenage girl. Apparently, the horse has changed this girl's life. She wasn't doing well in school and she was doing shady things before she received the horse. Her family was too poor to buy a horse so that's why she didn't have one already. It's good to know that one of Herman's horses is doing great things. :)
Here is a song I heard a couple of weeks ago on a spanish pop station. I like the chorus a ton. Speaking of Spanish, I actually had a good conversation in spanish with my teacher before and after a presentation I gave about "El Milagro De Los Andes", aka the plane crash in the Andes where the survivors had to eat the dead to survive. Anyway, it was first time I've felt in the one and a half years I've been studying spanish were I felt I could communicate and be understood. Pretty cool. Which reminds me, Charlemagne (an early English king, I think...) said "To have another language is to possess a second soul." Do trilingual or quad-lingual, etc, etc, have more than two souls? I think so, in the non-literal sense the quote was probably intended to infer.

And finally, here is a chart of Chinese pinyin. It is basically a tool for romanticization. Most words are not cleanly pronounceable based on common english pronunciation. If you you-tube it, you'll figure it out.
