I've been drawing again. I'm currently working on a portrait for
Astoreth*, because the fantasy art available doesn't allow much room for shorter, curvier gals with dark skin. Getting the shines just right on her super-polished black leather armor was way more fun than I had anticipated, but trying to adapt my
grisaille plus transparent glaze fleshtone painting style to photoshop has left me frustrated and itching for a brush rather than a stylus.
When my sister was in town, she showed me the site
Posemaniacs.com, which looks amazing for figure reference. I have really been needing this kind of website.** Some of these poses are just begging to be sketched.
Finally, when clicking through my usual lineup of blogs today, I came across
a gorgeous image that positively demands to be rendered in oil. That light! Those colors! That pose! Gah! It's just... Gah!
I'll allow some time to see if this passes, and then I am so dusting off a canvas and pulling out the paints.
*If y'all are interested, I'll post the pic when I'm finished.
**Largely because I'm too lazy to take a life drawing class. They're always scheduled for 7am! My body doesn't function anywhere near correctly at that hour!
