I really feel obligated to write today, but I don't have that much to say on any one topic. Excuse me while I ramble.
It's raining again. Pretty hard. Some of the thunder last night shook the house. I like the rain for the most part. It's really relaxing to not do anything on a lazy rainy day. Also, I think it has something to do with my liking of grey skies. However, when it's raining so hard that you can't go anywhere, that's no fun. I think. I'm not really sure I'd be doing anything anyway. That's fine. I've still got an anime to finish and I just got another one today, as well as a bunch of movies to watch when I get back to the dorm. This is finally a possibility thanks to the awesomeness of my brother, who helped me mod my Xbox. So now I can stream stuff from my computer through the Xbox on the TV. Good deal, because watching stuff with a laptop on your stomach isn't always comfortable and the chairs at school certainly are not. The carpet we have in our room is great though.
I don't care what 1B says, Amputechture, the recent Mars Volta album, is still worthless. Artistic expression is great and all, but when your songs are going to be over 16 minutes long and just random, I'm not really feeling it. I gave it another chance, but nope. It's still awful. Sure the dude can play the guitar, but he hardly ever does! Stop trying to act all cool by having unintelligible lyrics that don't mean anything anyway.
Baba O'Riley (Teenage Wastleland) by The Who is a good song. I found it by listening to the radio. I only listen to the radio in the car, because usually it isn't that good. When I do, though, it's always on the classic rock station we have here. The station, by the way, is exceedingly silly. They have something like 30 years to pull from and they still manage to play the same song two days in a row. It boggles the mind.
Don't hate me for hotlinking and I won't hate your for whatever it is you do that is silly.
That violin playing is really nifty. People should do more stuff like that, you know? Mixing classical with contemporary. Only make it decent, not terrible. Apocalyptica does it pretty well, 3 (previously 4) cellos playing metal.
I watched the most recent Death Note episode last night. I don't remember all that stuff about killing shinigami from the manga, but that was a while ago, so who knows. (side note for those who have also seen it: Jealous was really creepy-looking, ney?) This anime just keeps getting better, though. The soundtrack is great too (thanks, Alan).
I've started looking into colleges in a half-hearted manner. I'm really not excited about the application process and I can't really seem to find a place that will tell me some good computer science schools (reasonably attainable ones, at least). If anyone who reads this has any suggestions, they'd be appreciated. When I said half-hearted, though, I meant it. I was looking at schools that are probably way out of my league and exclusively on Wikipedia at that. The average GPA at these places (MIT, Berkeley, Cal Tech, stuff like that) is usually 4.0 or higher. Not to mention ridiculously low acceptance rates. It was quite disheartening.
I dunno how to feel about going back to school because special projects week is supposed to be fun, but then you have classes, and those are never fun. I think I'd definitely rather stay here.
I still need a coatrack and I wonder if Matt will help me rearrange the room because the current layout is boring and does not capitalize on space.
