Did not expect rain
To start falling late morning.
Though really should have.

While driving to church,
Saw lightning in the distance.
Didn't hear thunder.

Almost a dozen
Braved the cold Easter sunrise
At the church garden.

There's less kids this year,
But they had plenty of fun.
Lots of eggs and snacks.

Brought home casseroles,
Lasagna, and beef 'n' beans.
That's a lot of carbs.

Meal had lots of pork.
Slices of fried and baked ham,
Lima beans and ham.

Fried chicken: alright.
Chicken and dumplings: okay.
Chicken pot pie: good.

More people this year.
Same amount of dishes brought.
Not as much dessert.

All of the women
Were either sick or injured.
Just men on the choir.

We were fortunate
That the anthem was suited
Towards male voices.

Shrimp salad was back;
It's as good as remembered.
Brought home as takeout.
