It’s been so long since I last updated this that I’m positive that I’ll forget stuff. But let’s see what I can remember with… ‘Items of note from the past couple of weeks…’
A few Wednesdays ago saw Ollie, Georgie and Emmy round for drinks and food. After playing drinking games for God knows how long people started to pass out and bike rides began to happen.
A few Mondays back pretty much all of the old school gang met up for drinks at Public Bar. It was pretty great to see everybody (minus Jaz, who didn’t come). Caught up on all the news, sunk a number of cheap beers and then called it a night.
We have finished mixing and mastering our new record. Should be out mid June and I’m almost proud of this one. In other Quenews, the Winter tour is 95% booked, just waiting back on one final show. Some killer shows on this one, can’t wait.
Pete moved out of Cloud City, which sucks.
Spoon shut down, which sucks. The last three Saturday nights there have involved huge parties. Three weeks back it was Steph’s 21st and I worked the bar / drank for free from the bar. By 3am or so Michael and I were on top of the bar, dancing, throwing glasses around, everyone was dancing or passed out. It was funny. The following week was the ‘goodbye Spoon’ party, and it involved the same but with The Focus, 731 and Lakes playing, more nudity, more vomiting by people. Crazy times. This Saturday just gone was the last ever show there, and 731 fucking ruled it. Robotosaurus were pretty fucking great too. I DJ’d between bands ‘cos I rule. This weekend just gone we’ve had Todd, Paul and The Rational Academy guys down to stay. Been goods times, drinking, getting high and seeing them play. They were so great at Gertrude’s on Friday, as were Do The Robot. Before that show I went and drank at the Fitzroy Skate Bowl with Nat and watched Cut Sick and The Jerks play. It was fun, wasn’t too into the bands although Max’s drumming blew my mind… again. Went and saw Dase play at FAD Gallery on Thursday night. Fucking lamest audience/staff ever. Avoid playing there if you want to play louder than you do in your bedroom. Afterwards had some drinks with Jamieson for his birthday and then went and got stoned on a rooftop in the city. Good times.
I found an amazing, amazing bike last week, on the side of the road. I made sure it wasn’t anybodies, as it had been there for over a day and there was no lock and nobody around or anything, so I figured it had been abandoned. It’s beautiful.
Last weekend was Mil’s birthday, she can drive a car now, it’s strange.
I’m going to try and do smaller, more regular entries again. I doubt it’ll happen. Maybe I’ll just write in my diary instead.
Ps: The pub on the corner of my street that I had always thought was a total dive is actually quite alright. Got a pool table, nice beer garden, jukebox with Dylan on it, beeeeerrrr. Can’t complain, really.
Pps: I’ve become completely obsessed with The Might Boosh.
