I would like to share something with you today. And that something is
this image. I don't remember it from reading Naruto through the first time, but it's made me nostalgic. I really wish that Kishimoto still loved his series, because you don't see that level of... love and personality in his art nowadays. It's all clean now. The anatomy is nearly flawless. And... it's just not as lively as it used to be. Sure, Kakashi is prettier, and Naruto looks less like a squished midget toad, but... at least when Naruto cried and had boogers coming out of his nose, I felt something for him.
Look at that level of detail, at the scrawny angle of Kakashi's arms, the rough hatching on the rope. You can almost feel the texture just looking at it. You get a sense of quiet, a sense of story and character.
Come back Kishimoto and make me love your art again. It's okay if it's not always perfect.
