A movie about the U.S. military nuking alien invaders...
...with the pacing, texture, and soundtrack of a hipster romcom.
Strangely it all works. The metaphors are a little ham-fisted but the revelations all appear at the right places. Each scene has you anticipating either horror or levity, then delivers the opposite.
