The final portfolio was mailed.
YAY!
School is officially over for the girl.
She completed 100% of the curriculum. (I don't ever remember completing the whole book for any subject when I was in school.)
She has a 95% overall average, which could go up or down depending on the grades she receives for the portfolio items.
I am not sweating anything at this point. I saw the work she submitted and am not concerned.
Actually, the sweating had nothing to do with her actual work, it was getting my ass in gear and making sure I did my part.
So to celebrate finishing school, we are going to Borders to go shopping for new books! Yay!
I don't think that we will be doing the schooling at home thing next year. We are talking to the administrators at a local Catholic school. I am not sure how I feel about this. Hell, it was mostly my idea. But still.... Nothing is set. She is still enrolled for next year at her current school. But it is really a hard decision.
My neighbor just went back to work. She has been a stay at home mom for the past 5 years. She was putting the kids in the car the other day and she turned to me and said, "You deserve a medal, your job is the hardest out there. I am back to work and it feels like a vacation!" I just smiled and told her I am going to demand a pay raise.
And the girl will be fine in a school. She is such a keener that the teachers will like her. Unless she is bored. Then they will call her disruptive or have her help other kids. In which case I could just pull her out. No biggie. But I think in my heart, I know she will do well and will enjoy being around all of the kids.
And I have been looking into a local preschool for the boy. It would be two or three days a week from 9-11:30. He is already writing his name, knows his letters and asks to have words spelled for him constantly. He has gotten a real kick out of the little cards I have placed around the house. I am not sure if preschool will be a set back, so I am not making any decisions on this yet. I will have to discuss this at coffee.
I was invited to dinner at luluisme's place with the girls. Yum! I am really looking forward to tonight!
