IFS: Check-In with Tristan, the Happy Wanderer
Tristan is the name of a suppressed child aspect who likes to wander around and explore. When I was very young, up until maybe 9 or so, I loved to take off and check out what was around. We moved frequently, so there was often new places to discover. Eventually, however, I became too afraid of the world to venture out much.

Self: I want to see Tristan! *waits patiently by an outdoor kids pirate ship playground*
Tristan: *A forlorn looking kid drags his feet as he approaches.*
Self: Uh-oh... You're not looking so happy, kiddo...
Tristan: I'm not... *kicks a small stone*
Self: What's going on? We're in a new place and we've seen lots of new locations.
Tristan: I want to go play in the empty field and walk around the park and stuff. Not just ride in a car.
Self: Okay. I see your point. We've been so busy, we haven't gone out exploring much yet. But we checked out Piper's Park. THAT was cool!
Tristan: Yeah, but it was months ago and I just want to see more things...
Self: Okay, buddy. I get ya. I will set up more outings when the weather's a little nicer, and we'll see more things.
Tristan: Promise? *looks up at me for the first time*
Self: Yeah. I took you on all those walks before, didn't I? We've been busy with the move and all that, but we'll get back into exploring again. You'll see.
Tristan: Okay. I like the far back yard.
Self: Yeah, me too. It's pretty sweet back there. We're gonna put in pathways and stuff, and I'm going to add some whistling pipes and hanging stick things. It'll be wild!
Tristan: Cool!
Self: Yeah. You won't be bored, I don't think. Meanwhile, you being locked up by pirates any more?
Tristan: Nah. They sometimes tell me not to go out or whatever, but I mostly ignore them cuz I'm NOT going out anyways, so why are they even saying stuff?
Self: Rays are creatures of habit, that's all.
Tristan: I guess.
Self: You make out some plans for places to explore, and then we'll be ready to go soon. And we'll keep going out, to parks and neat places. I'm setting up a ride thing with Tess, so we can do that.
*Tristan nodded and then rushed away to play.*

Okay, nothing huge there, just a bored kid aspect. Easily enough fixed, and already on the agenda!
