Dad is home from the hospital and doing great! I got to "dad sit" a week ago and we had a fun time channel flipping between pre-season football and the Olympics. He's had no more pain and is back to eating again. Hooray!!!!
The CFO called me about the Boston job last week. He loves me, wants me to work for him but the CEO is still on the fence. CEO wants CFO to "bring in a few more people" for interviews. CFO isn't thrilled about this as he had to cancel his vacation in order to do this. I am hoping that the CFO will drag in a few people just for show so we can both get on with the business of hiring me. CFO told me he would give me a call end of this week or the beginning of next week. Just from his tone of voice, it sounds like he really wants to get me in there and that this delay is a big pain in his ass.
However I have not just been sitting idle waiting for my phone to ring. I'm still in contact with my other recruiters and they have sent my resume out to some other companies. I even had a very informal interview at the VNA last week. That was the place where I was temping a month ago. However the position they had was a joke. What they are really looking for is a junior/staff accountant and I am so beyond that now. I politely thanked them for thinking of me but told them "No".
This past weekend was crazy as Sharon came up to visit! I got a call from her Thursday at noon asking me if I wanted to see her new car. :-D She traded in her space pod and got a very posh Honda CRV. Her back and shoulder issues were getting too bad for her to keep the manual sporty Insight, so she upgraded - bigtime. The most important features of the CRV are its height and lumbar support. The leather seats, moonroof, XM radio and butt warmers aren't bad either! ;-D Saturday night we drove it to
ravenways and had a grand time. It was a night full of laughs, pomegranate flavored alcohol, ice cream trucks, truffles and circular meat in BBQ sauce. Too much fun.
This weekend also brought about Phase 2 of landscaping. Those of you who have been to my house know that we have no trees except in the waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back of the property. This lack of trees results in dead grass every summer and too much exposure to the neighbours. After much research and landscape consultation, we headed out to the nursery on Saturday morning (we left Sharon to sleep-in from her long drive). Erik and I spent a good hour or so looking at all the trees and found two that we are going to add to the front yard - a New Dawn Redwood and a Hogyoku Japanese Maple. Since Erik's birthday is next weekend, these are now known as his birthday trees - thanks mum & dad. This week, we get to dig up two honking big holes in the front yard so we have a place to put them. But first, I need to call Dig Safe so we don't blow up the house in the process.
So I'm off to make my call and I'll see a good many of you next weekend!
