Lucretia: *is quietly pondering a tray of oatmeal raisin muffins with a warm cup of tea*
Luc: *enters the room, shuts the door behind him, and takes a seat directly across from Lucretia* I've heard through the grapevine that you wished to speak with me.
Lucretia: *smiles* I did. Nothing overly formal, though. Just wanted to check in with you in regards to the Sun Rune.
Luc: *raises an eyebrow* What about it?
Lucretia: Well, I don't suppose that there has been any further interest in it since last we spoke?
Luc: It is safe, isn't it? That means that my brother hasn't tried to take it for Harmonia.
Lucretia: *quietly picks up her tea, takes a sip, and nods* Just because it is safe does not mean that there are plans ongoing for its capture, yes? I have been out of town for a bit and since you haven't spoken to me recently, I wanted to be proactive and check in with you to see if you knew anything more. Of course, if you've been occupied by other things, I surely understand...
Luc: I have. Sarah and I plan to leave to go on a quest, soon.
Lucretia: Oh? Do tell!
Luc: A farmer requested assistance with some monsters, and we will be gone for two weeks... at least. But that is not important. I have not learned anything further about Harmonia's intentions regarding the Sun Rune, or any other True Rune for that matter. I am quite... troubled about their seemingly uninterested manner with the large amount of True Runes at this castle... they have burned down villages looking for one True Rune, and invaded other countries when informed of a True Rune's presence. With no less than six here, I'm surprised they haven't launched a full-scale invasion.
Lucretia: It does seem very unlike them to feign this sort of disinterest when they've gone through such lengths in the past. But I and those around me have been quite aware of this but a little mouse has told me that they have far bigger things to worry about.
Luc: *titls head out of curiosity* Bigger things? Like what?
Lucretia: A source of mine in Caleria has told me that there seems to be some sort of disturbance in the Howling Voice Guild. You know, as well as I do, that the Guild is the source for not only information, but power for those that are in high levels of Harmonia. Who would do your dirty work should the Guild implode?
Luc: During my time as a Bishop-General, I was aware of the in-fighting within the Guild, but for obvious reasons, I have not gained any more information with Harmonian affairs. Sarah and I will be close ot the Southern Frontier for this mission, so I suppose I will look into it while I am there. I'm surprised, however, that the Harmonian government cares more about their silly assassins than all of the True Runes here... that is, unless they truly aren't aware of it, or my if father has gone soft and actually respects the peace treaty.
Lucretia: *takes a few moments to take a bite of her muffin and sip her tea thoughtfully* Please do not take this more than simple advice, but it would be unwise to dismiss them as just 'silly assassins' - Harmonia would not have all that it does without the work they do. And I'm not saying that Harmonia cares more for them - if they did, they would have squashed their infighting before now. What I [am] saying is that whatever means you wish to accomplish, you [are] going to need their help, and a stable Guild will help you accomplish that. *pauses, seeing that Luc has nothing on his side while she's been snacking the whole time* ...Oh, dear. Please accept my apologies - would you like something? On me, of course?
Luc: *raises his hands to dismiss her offer* No thank you, I planned on eating with Sarah tonight.
But maybe you're right. There are many members of the Guild who despise the status quo in Harmonia, and given my history, they would surely make themselves known to me. I am going to trust you not to reveal my plans; in the end, they will work out in your favor, if my suspicions are correct.
Lucretia: I do not entirely have a 'favor', as you say, but I do want what is right. In any event, I will not betray your confidence but I do reserve the right to point out where you may be flawed, should you have any.
Luc: Of course. That is why I hired Albert Silverberg, after all, to perfect my plans and ensure my victory... though his brother outsmarted him, and he later betrayed me.
Lucretia: All that means is that you should have advisors, or at least [friends] closer to you than you can trust. And, all things considered, you might be wary of having me as a [friend], but...I do not wish for you to find yourself in more trouble that could easily have been avoided. That is all.
Luc: That may be unavoidable. I'm sure that there is a price on my head, assuming Sasarai, or someone else has revealed to Harmonia that I am still alive.
Lucretia: Well, if Bishop Big Hat had revealed that you were alive, he would have done so, yes? And...yes. I apologize again. We called him that when we were in school and it's childish, I know. But the point remains.
Luc: I see... but we don't know whether he did or he didn't, or if someone else took the liberty of doing so. There are more Harmonian-employed soldiers than my brother at this castle, after all.
Lucretia: Trust me, if he had, we'd have soldiers swarming all over us asking for your head. And even so, if someone were to attack you, there would be many others to defend your right to live here. I would be chief amongst them. *sips her tea, puts it down, and continues* I do not agree at all with how you chose to deal with your life circumstances. But if you do not mean us harm, and you wish us all well, I will defend to the death your wish to be here, [now].
Luc: Perhaps, you are right... maybe my brother is more trustworthy than I gave him credit for. *closes his eyes at her next comment... no one other than Sarah has said anything like that to him* Thank you, Lucretia.
Lucretia: Certainly. I'm always available for advice, should you need it. *smile*
Luc: Duly noted. *stands up, and turns away* We may not see eachother for a while... I predict that Sarah and I may not return to the castle for quite some time, even after the mission. *with that cryptic message, Luc leaves*
