In which Wyatt drops in on Lucretia's study session at the tavern.
Lucretia: *currently sitting in corner of the tavern with a stack of books, studying up on the phenomena that is Yuber, with a Brassy Blonde (
http://www.drinknation.com/drink/Brassy-Blonde) nearby*
Wyatt: *heads into the tavern for a mug of ale, he spots her in the corner and heads on over* Hey there. Mind if I join you this time? *grins*
Lucretia: *flutter!* Wyatt. Hello. And certainly, if you don't mind sharing the space with a lot of books. *motions for him to sit down*
Wyatt: Not at all. *takes a seat and gulps down some ale before setting his mug on the table* Catching up on quite a bit of reading, I see.
Lucretia: I admit, my knowledge on the subject of Yuber...it's not as good as it was. That, and...well, I'm always up for rereading histories. But...enough of me for now. What brings you by?
Wyatt: *shrugs* Just the usual visit. But ... *frowns* Yuber is a dangerous ... monster. Don't involve yourself with him, if you can help it.
Lucretia: I'll do my best, but...*flutters thoughtfully*...if he poses a threat to the castle [which he most certainly does], then there are those of us who will have to come up with a way to best deal with him. For now, I'm merely curious, but I fear that at some point, outside involvement of some sort will have to be involved, directly or not. *closes her eyes as she takes a sip of her drink*
Wyatt: *nods but still frowns* That might be true but I'm hoping that he'll just disappear on his own. He's not someone to mess with. And he's not someone you want stirring up or getting involved in trouble around here. If not for him ... *just shakes his head and sighs*
Lucretia: And you're not headstrong enough now? *chuckles, fluttering* You don't strike me as the shrinking violet type, honestly.
Wyatt: Heh, of course I'm not a ... flower. But I don't rush into battle needlessly either. There's a time and place for everything. Being reckless never helped anyone. *sighs* That was my mistake that one time and boy did I pay for it.
Lucretia: Mmm. It happens to the best of us, you can be assured of that. Everyone who errs somehow, someway, gets a second chance, and here you are. Tell me, what do you intend on doing with it?
Wyatt: *raises his eyebrows in surprise since no one has asked or been blunt enough with him about it before* I ... well, I've been trying to ... get to know my daughter a little more, for one. I suppose I still feel guilty for abandoning her.
Lucretia: Something tells me that if given a choice, you wouldn't have done so. I think, if you want to build a relationship with her, start by telling her that. Past is past, and here is now. It might take time, but...it's all we have, isn't it? *slow!flutter!*
Wyatt: *shakes his head* No, if things weren't the way the were back then, I would have stayed at home with my family. *glances up at her again and smiles* But yes, what's done is done and nothing can be done about it now. I think she knows that I'm trying to be there for her, as awkward as it might seem sometimes. *is quiet for a brief moment before he turns a curious gaze to her* And what about you? Do you have anyone important in your life right now?
Lucretia: Just Frasier. *points to napping kitty at her feet* My parents passed away while I was in Falena and I am an only child. I don't mind that, really - there's something quite liberating about being able to go where you want and do what you want without having to worry too much about anyone. However, I'm starting to think that my coming here was a very large cosmic hint that I need to just go somewhere and [be] there for a while. I tried to do that by living in Gregminster, but Gregminster was only a rest stop for my trips abroad. *chuckle*
Wyatt: Ah, I see. *smiles warmly* During my youth, I felt the same about being able to travel freely. But I got old and that all changed. *laughs* But yes, this place is quite special. It's probably trying to teach us all something.
Lucretia: *raises an eyebrow, smiling* 'Old'? You? I've seen men half your age look three times as worse. *giggles* But...in the histories I've read, all the people that have made some sort of contribution to each campaign, have been called 'Stars of Destiny'. I want to think that we're here to realize ours, individually and collectively. *Frasier opens an eye, looks up at Wyatt, then goes back to sleep*
Wyatt: *just grins* Heh, I look younger than I am. But thanks for the compliment. *smiles at the cat before glancing back at Lucretia* That's certainly a possibility. I haven't seen Leknaat around these parts in awhile so I do wonder ...
Lucretia: Maybe it's not our time yet. But until then...*raises her drink and takes a sip* Let the good times roll, yes? *flutter!*
Wyatt: *grins again and nods as he lifts his mug as well* Agreed. I promise to not look back on the past anymore and be a party pooper. It's only forward from here on out.
Lucretia: It's the only way to go. *smile!*
Wyatt: Indeed. *lifts his mug again in a toast* To the future.
Lucretia: To the future! And all the happiness it brings. *clinks her glass against his*
Wyatt: *smiles and takes a large gulp of his drink before sighing contentedly*
Lucretia: *watches him and tries not to giggle like a schoolgirl, instead smiling rather contentedly*
Wyatt: *turns back to her and smiles back* Well, I suppose I should let you continue your research. I'd hate to be the one to keep you from it.
Lucretia: It's quite alright. I don't think I could have asked for a more pleasant distraction. *resists the urge to flutter*
Wyatt: *laughs* Hah, you're not the first one to call me a distraction. Unfortunately, I tend to do so but I don't mean to. *smirks* But Geddoe will try to tell you otherwise.
Lucretia: Like I said - a [pleasant] distraction. If you like, you can do it again, sometime. *grin*
Wyatt: Heh, I don't know about that! *laughs again* Well, I'm always up for distracting people if they need it that badly. *smirks* Well, good luck with your reading and I'm sure I'll see you around, now that the weather is slowly warming up again.
Lucretia: Thank you. I'll definitely see you around. *flutter!*
