Random Granada!series picspam: Episode 5x03 Shoscombe Old Place
Starting with... OMG it's JUDE LAW and he is a stableboy!
But now to the plot. A strange man named Brawer wants to speak with Lady Beatrice (Robert's sister) but Sir Robert doesn't want him to.
Braswer [to lady Beatrice]: I want what's rightfully mine. [...] I'll be back, Lady Beatrice.
I can feel mayhem!
Sir Robert seems determined to forget the incident or to deal with Brawer personally if he does come back.
But now, our boys.
Disapproving glance from the lovely Mrs Hudson. Watson is all "What can I do?" while drinking is tea. And Sherlock Holmes is doing a mess of papers and carts in the room. Finally he finds what he was looking for (and it is about Sir Robert Norberton). He is about to explain Watson where he burn himself with the hot teapot ;P
I love these little detailed domestic moments (and Watson actually says "Careful").
Then they start talking about Sir Robert and we discovers that he lives at Schoscombe Hall and he's got a horse running in the Champion Stakes and his famous stable are known as Schoscombe Old Place. And the place was owned by Lady Beatrice's dead husband, sir James.
Sherlock Holmes finally says that he ad a letter from John Mason, the head trainer at Schoscombe. In the letter Mason informs Holmes of the desappearance of Samuel Brewer.
I love how Holmes and Watson are perfect together while Watson tells Holmes all he knows about Schoscombe. And I love Mrs Hudson.
Holmes: My eggs were hard boiled
Mrs Hudson: *exasperated look* There's a Mr Mason to see you, sir
Mason: I think Sir Robert Norberton has gone mad
Holmes: Oh please, this is Baker Street not Harley Street
Watson: *giggle*
Mason thinks there is a connection between Robert's debts and the disappearance of Brawer because Brawer was Robert's principal creditor.
We discovers also Sir James left to her wife (Lady Beatrice) money that she lends to her adored brother Robert but if she should die the estate would go to James's brother. In a flashback we can see that Beatrice is ill and Mason says that for the past week Beatrice didn't even stopped at the stables also if she used to love riding and watching the horses.
And Robert gave away her loved and adored dog (Jasper).
Suspicious.
I especially love the fact that while Holmes talk and asks questions to Mason Watson often is watching Holmes.
Carrie Evans is Lady Beatrice's maiden but she is more devoted to Robert (Watson: "Sir Robert is something of a lady's man, he?").
Holmes: Don't you think the quarrel between brother and sister may lie there?
And Holmes starts theorizing and he is talking only to his Watson.
Mason stops their theories because there's something else he has to say.
Mason: There is a central heating furnance in the cellar-
It seems they found something into the furnance. Watson recognizes it as the upper contour of a human femur.
Holmes: So anyone can visit it (the furnance) over the night?
Mason: I suppose so. But the lad has the key to the outer door.
Holmes: I see. What is the name of that tavern you spoke of?
Mason: Green Dragon.
Holmes: Is there any good fishing in that part of Parkshire?
Mason: °_°
Watson: *I grin because I know what Holmes is thinking. Oh, I know him too well!*
Holmes and Watson arrive at the Green Dragon where they find Lady Beatrice's dog.
Lovely moment at the tavern.
Watson, Holmes and the dog take a little walk at the lake which is near Sir Robert's stables after finding out that Robert is very aggresive to the people that go near his stables.
They meet one of the man who works for Sir Robert and he informs them that Robert took Jasper away because the dog started behaving strangely at the old church where Jasper and the man heard someone crying.
Holmes next decides to meet Lady Beatrice while she is on her daily drive, on the carriage.
Holmes: Stop the carriage, Watson!
Watson: Excuse me! (the carriage stops) Could you direct us to the Green Dragon tavern?
The ever resorceful Watson.
In that moment Holmes let go of the dog and Jasper run to the carriage. Unfortunately before Jasper can reach it the maiden Carrie order the carriage to leave, nearly killing poor Watson.
Watson: You still didn't explain why I risked my life this afternoon.
Holmes: To test a theory.
Poor Watson.
After that sneaky!Watson enter into the house of sir Robert to fake himself as Lady Beatrice's doctor. While he distracts the butler, Sherlock Holmes sneaks into Beatrice's room.
Funniest moment ever where the butler explains all his health problems. ALL OF THEM. Also the embarassing onces.
After this... well, Sherlock Holmes solves the case.
Holmes and Watson find the body of Lady Beatrice and finally Sir Robert explains them everything. Beatrice died a week ago and they MADE JUDE LAW WEAR A DRESS to look as Beatrice. With this artifice, Robert managed to use Beatrice's money also if he was devasted by her death.
(And Brawer had debts and that's the reason he disappeared, he was not killed by Robert, yay)
Sherlock Holmes wins again! <3
Lovely moment where Watson admits he bet on Robert's horse and won twenty guineas.
WIN MOMENT when Mrs Hudson admits she won ten guineas and Sherlock Holmes tries to be disappointed but in fact he laughs.
