I watched V for Vendetta. Natalie Portman has my haircut.

I have my own fire gear now, including heavy boots, gloves, flash hood, and all the other accoutrements.  I wore them to training on Wednesday and put them to use.

You aren't in the Rural Fire Service until you've done pushups in the Rural Fire Service.

I got inside "Beauty" and went for a ride (I love innuendo) and had more training, this time in the field.  I am getting more accustomed to hose work.  At one point another newbie took off the hose clamp before we had unrolled the hose I had just attached.  Rookie mistake.  I'll make some too.

There was interest expressed in me giving training sessions for those interested in the brigade.  Hooray!  Now I just have to qualify.  Studying continues, though I'm not thrilled about the organisation of the course.

I was in the supermarket today and heard this song.

I love the song, but I thought a Canadian song with an anti-consumerist video was an odd choice for an Australian supermarket.  I found myself singing along later in the day.

And then my next earworm, quite inexplicably, was this.

Yeah, I can't explain why, but I couldn't get it out of my head.

TW: In firefighting gear - Fired up AMRAP - 20 minutes. 10 pullups, 10 situps - 5 rounds as a finisher.  Fewer disapproving looks this time.

Up to Sydney in the morning for the weekend to visit friends and family.

Then next week to Melbourne.  I booked tickets today, so I am committed to doing Black Dog Pushups in Melbourne.  The plan is 10 pushups every minute for 12 hours.  It will give me plenty of recovery time, plenty of time to talk to people, and plenty of time for the media to cover the event.  I started tweeting my plans to Melbourne sporting clubs and athletes tonight.  In the morning I'll see what has come of that.  I hope some of them will join me.  That would make for good publicity.

training, pushups, gym, fire
