writing and movies

I had a quiet, content Christmas this year, which I'm happy for. I usually hate Christmas because it sends me into a semi-depressive state. I focus too much on what I don't have instead of what I do, something I've been curbing to great effect.

I've been thinking about my New Year's resolutions. One of them is to write more, which is why I've joined getyourwordsout. You can pledge to write 200K, 250k, or 300k. I'm going to pledge to write 250k. By joining the community I have people I'm accountable to. I'm from the Carribbean, the threat of disappointing community expectations can cause me to do just about anything, including write. Join up if you think this type of project would help you.

In movie news, I've just seen the most awesome vampire movie. Låt den rätte komma in or Let the Right One In is a Swedish film about a thirteen year old Oskar, who is bullied by his peers and befriends his neighbour Eli, a thirteen year old vampire. That's all I'm saying because anything else would give away the best parts about the film. It's beautifully shot, the characters are lovely, and it makes you think. I'm going to have to get the book it's based on because I'm in love with it so much.
