Meet
Steve Koren. Steve is a former writer for SNL. I first learned about him last night on the Daily Show, when Adam Sandler credited him with originating the idea for "Click", the movie where Sandler gets a remote control that controls the universe.
Sandler noted, off-handedly, that Koren's other movie credit is writing Bruce Almighty. That's the movie where Jim Carrey temporarily becomes G-D, gaing the power to control the universe.
How's that for broad screenwriting versatility? It's kind of like there's a guy whose only credits were writing "Armageddon" and "Deep Impact". Third movie? "Day After Tomorrow".
So, you ask, what's Steve Koren doing next?
Evan Almighty, with Steve Carell in the Jim Carrey role.
To be fair to Koren, he's also a writer for a Get Smart remake with Steve Carell. And Bruce Almighty made
insane-o mad money, so Koren's probably turning out scripts in his insanely narrow sub-genre from a mansion in Malibu.
