HERE.
Jo's boots beat heavily against the concrete, the sound echoing in the abandoned warehouse. Thump, thump, thump.
Her heart pounded fast in her chest, racing, reverberating in her ears. Thump, thump, thump.
She had to find him. The alternative was not an option.
She rounded the corner and saw two bodies hanging limply from the ceiling. Her breath caught in her throat and she was sure he was dead.
"SAM! He's over here!" she screamed, breaking into a run towards Dean.

She was lying in bed next to him. She didn't know how many hours had passed since she found him, but she hadn't left his side. Slowly, she felt herself starting to fall asleep. She forced her eyes open to make sure that he was still okay, he was still breathing, his heart was still beating.
She pressed a sleepy kiss to his cheek, letting her lips linger against the blissfully warm skin.

He woke slowly, felt a weight and a shape against his side that could only be Jo. Turning his head toward her, he let one finger trail softly down her cheek.
He was thankful to be alive. He remembered just enough to know that it was bad. It had been close.
He watched Jo sleeping peacefully, her hand curled protectively around his bicep, and he just felt thankful. He realized a few very important things at some point, though he's not really sure when. He realized that he needed her, that he loved her, and that she was right.
Life was too short to not take a chance.
"Joanna," he said softly, his voice rough from the deep sleep he'd just emerged from.
"What? Are you okay? Oh my God, what's wrong?" she sputtered, shooting up in the bed, panicking.
He laughed softly, grasped her shoulder to keep her in the bed.
"I'm fine."
She took a few deep breaths, visibly calming under his touch.
"Thank God."
"Where's Sam?" he asked curiously.
"He's just outside," Jo said, starting to get out of the bed. "We thought you'd be out for longer, but I can go get him."
"No," he rushed to say. "Stay with me."
She smiled at him, ran her hand over the three day old stubble on his cheek.
"I'm so glad you're okay," she said, tears starting to run down her cheeks.
"So am I. I suppose I have you to thank for that."
"You have luck or divine intervention to thank for that," she insisted. "It was real touch and go for a while."
"Either way, I'm feeling very lucky to be alive right now. I realized something in that dream."
"Yeah?" she asked, her heart racing a mile a minute.
"You were right, life is too short."
She smiled sadly, and he could tell she was completely unprepared for what he was going to say next.
"I love you."
The End.
Note: Possibly the last update for April, but maybe not because we're getting to a portion that I have a lot already written. So, we'll see what happens. I have a lot to do for school, and that has to come first, but I wanted to update the people that are following this. I will not forget about it!
