Sorry -- this is a depressing topic. Although, I'd rather be aware of what's actually happening on my planet, than "stick my head in the sand." Eh, according to this news article (at bottom of page), there's likely to be A LOT more sand on my planet in the next several decades! So, we can start pretending to be Dune-dwellers. House Atreides and House Harkonnen. Battling for control over planetary resources, particularly water and stillsuits. Ok, not "the spice" like in Dune. At least I don't think we have such a powerful substance in our deserts. Do we? Sorry again -- going way off topic. Back to my topic. Earth. I happen to like it. But maybe it doesn't like humans. Humans seem so talented at re-arranging environmental conditions. Humans......am I really one of them? I like environmental conditions which allow me to flourish, while giving a sense of balance to other lifeforms here. "Balance" can be subjective, of course. If I was to consult a college textbook on science, it might say "balance" in the environment is allowing native lifeforms to flourish, without one dominating another. Then you have to define "dominating." Am I dominating seafood when I choose to eat it? Well, this eventually ties in with geoengineering, consumerism, chemtrails, and climate. Geoengineering is humanity's attempt to re-arrange planetary weather conditions. This is massive. Moving the jet stream around. Taking rainfall away from one corner of Earth; adding rainfall somewhere else. Depositing bits of aluminum in our air/soil/water. I'd rather use aluminum to create beer cans, not to get contaminated air/soil/water. Wouldn't you prefer aluminum beer cans in this case? However.....beer is part of our consumer culture. Consumerism does get out of hand at times, such as when we think "I need all the latest electronic gadgets, or else I'll be the embarrassment of the neighborhood!!" Or "I must buy 6 mirrors for my dining room, to showcase the elegance and sophistication of my expensive furniture. Also, I must never use this furniture, in order to preserve its eternal blemish-free beauty for viewing by jealous friends." (Actually I knew a woman who bought about 6 mirrors for her dining room, bought expensive furniture, including marble tops, and told me that we must never eat in there.) Consumerism! Well, onto the news article.
