Scanning and the death of an ex-president

Massive scanning project 2006-07 has begun

As many of you know, I was a picture taking fool back in college. So much so, that I have nine photo albums from my years at USC. Four and a half years of photos that are completely not replaceable. So I asked for a scanner for Christmas, and Santa brought me one :)

So I am starting the massive scanning process. I am thinking this will probably take months. But alas, I will finally have all my photos from college backed up and I'll be able to rest easy with them all on CDs in my fire safe box.

I hope everyone had a good Christmas and that Santa was good to you all.

Besides the scanner and a few other small things that I really needed, I got an electric guitar, amp and 15 lessons. I am really excited about starting them too. Maybe if I learn how to play the guitar, I'll be able to break this whole cycle of crushing on musicians ;)

I also got money toward my Digital SLR Camera Fund from various relatives. I am about half way there, too. HORRAY!! I am pretty sure I should be able to get the camera within the next few months. Another thing I am super excited about. I really want to get back into photography and I this will really allow me to do that.

"I'm not even supposed to be here today!"

Last night was pretty interesting. As you might have heard by now, former President Gerald Ford died last night. And it wasn't even announced until almost midnight, which meant I had already met Erin at the bar.

Anyway, I was up at the bar getting a beer when I looked up at the TV and saw "BREAKING NEWS: GERALD FORD DIES, 93"

I figured since the TV was on ESPN it must have happened much earlier in the day and I just didn't hear about it. So I went back to where Erin was sitting and said:

Me: So Gerald Ford died?
Erin: What?
Me: Gerald Ford died?
Erin: (Gets up to call the newsroom)

Long story short, she and I went up to the office, ripped apart the front page and got Ford's death into the paper for the metro edition. It was one of those moments that I really felt like a journalist from the movies. Breaking news really late, Making changes at the last minute. It was truly exciting. And it was all on my day off.
