My free Penguin Classic arrived at the weekend. Now I have six weeks to read Golden Legend, a collection of medieval hagiographies, and write a review of it.
Apparently, it was a major bestseller in the 1200s. Over a thousand manuscript copies in almost every European language, including
Provençal, survive, plus it was one of the first books printed after the invention of movable type¹.
Essentially, it's the 1266 version of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, especially as all the people in it are, y'know, hallowed, what with being saints.
In Other News, does anyone have a Palm M500-series PDA, and need a spare sync/charging cable? I bought one for the cigarette-lighter-socket to USB converter that was included, but it doesn't work with my phone charger for some bizarre reason.
1. No, not the
Perl-based blog software, you nerd. ;)
