I've managed to get incredibly behind due to a family wedding. At least there was dancing. Still, I'm only on
When are spectators going to learn that they really shouldn't bring their dogs to a bike race. Dogs chase bikes! I kind of loved Gilbert for trying to set them a little straight and it was a little funny seeing them try to shield their kid from the angry cyclist. As if he'd really try to do something to them other than yell a bit. That's the least he deserves after your dog almost broke him. And it's not like this is the first time a dog has caused a crash so these people can't claim they didn't think something like this could happen.
Other than that, I really thought Vino had a chance today. Unfortunately the sprinter's teams wanted to give them another chance. At least he got most aggressive. And there's still Paris, but the sprinter teams are going to be so hungry for a win that I don't think he'll be able to get away. It would just be nice to see something surprising in Paris. As it was, this stage, after Vino brightening up the start, ended up being pretty boring.
I didn't mind seeing Cav win, he wanted it pretty bad, and his interview was pretty adorable with his plea to his team to just give him a chance. The hugs were also pretty exuberant and sweet. All until Edvald's interview. You got the distinct feeling that he didn't get that memo and thought it was his turn for some glory in the break after pulling the team through the mountains. His lines about how great the win was and how awesome his team is did not have much conviction behind them. Poor kid. I really did want to see him get a win, but we all know how other sprinters fare on Cav's teams. Maybe he'll find a new home next season.
Anyway, I was also glad to see Adam Hansen get out and have some fun. That guy is hilarious on twitter, as are the rest of the Lotto boys. Also, Arashiro continues to impress me with is surprise climbing skills. I really did think he was a sprinter.
One last highlight. Phil's morbid musings about ducks. He sees some lovely ducks swimming in a lake and then is all, "What a pretty sight…they won't be when they're made into pate foie gras." What was that Phil? Was that really necessary?
