Aspasia - Tulsa - 3/16 - Friday Night (Snapshot I)

Apr 07, 2007 13:49

OOC: Blantly stealing from Genevieve and trying to not write 12 page per night, all encompassing stories. Mostly so I can catch up...

Aspasia watches from an outer ring of the fire. The Hierophant of Tulsa and the Doctor from Colorado seem to lead the rest. They invite others of the covenant to come forward and tell of their accomplishments.

Kinkaid, who invited her to attend the meeting, leans over and murmurs in her ear, “In what way is this so different from Gangrel meetings.”

Aspasia refrained from answering the woman. Because we do more than talk. The clan debates, plans, takes actions. Judges actions. The Circle is stagnant.

In some part she was still surprised at the relative swiftness of the crones to act with regards to herself. It was still less than a year since she publicly repudiated the Carthian Movement so long as the Foundation, more precisely Liberty Stone was seen as a leader. Aspasia expected a few attempts here and there from various neonates or canny others to try and persuade her to declare for this or that group as a new member.

The Crones were far more subtle. Kinkaid’s public statement that she simply considered Aspasia to be an acolyte, weither or not the Amazon agreed. The actions during Bastian’s festival in Washington D.C - which were in some measure her own fault and Dionysus. Aspasia forgot to think and in any other circumstance, it could have meant her death instead of being ‘welcomed’ back into the fold. The conversation with Urvi - appealing her admittedly maternal leanings.

And she suspected they were not yet done with the campaign. At the least it was an interesting strategy - treat her like she is one, others will make the assumption. The Danse will change to reflect that and eventually any protestations she makes to the contrary will be dismissed.

The two whisper in soft exchanges of philosophy and contrasting points of view, while the main body of the gathered Crones give their attention to rite. Then Kinkaid mentions the machete. The Butcher's Machete.

Aspasia confirms the rumor that an Invictus had offered to give it to her if she would join them, although she suspected it was a joke. But, the Amazon knew her eyes sparkled at the thought of that particular weapon. It called to her on some primal level. She wanted it on first sight and wanted it still.

So, Kinkaid's declaration that it was no longer in the world took a moment to absorb. Given up as a sacrifice, but his others - the lesser copies remained. She would give Aspasia one without her having to join the Circle.

It is not the same.

Aspasia declines the offer as she turns her gaze from the dangerous woman. As is her usual practice, the Amazon consistently scans the crowd, and the perimeter with her eyes, alert for anything that indicates trouble coming.

At first she misses him, the cluster of bodies, the casting of shadows, the noise and the distractions of the Prince at her right hand side. But, the Doctor moves around the pit, and his camouflage is gone. For an instant Aspasia, believes it is a trick of the eyes.

Why is Exodus here?
